I mow 26 acres of which 2 acres are irrigated and pristine. 20 of which are pretty rough, and the rest is a very nice Baseball field and practice facility. I have been using a Gravely 260Z w/72 in deck for about 10 years. The mowers frame has been welded, the deck has been welded, etc. etc. Now, I can buy a demo. Dixie Chopper w 150 hours (72 in. 30hp generac) for 7000$, a 72in Gravely for $9000 or a base Ex Mark Lazer for 9500$. Are there other mowers I should consider? Is the Dixie the toughest mower on the market ? I can probably spend 10,000 but not any higher. Comments,Suggestions, Criticism.
You all are the pros at this stuff, Help me out. I haven't bought a ZTR in 10 years !!!!!!!!

Ive ran both. The chopper is a nice mower and does cut well and tough but i have an exmark lazer z as well and it is over 2000 hours and still goin strong and is noticbly nicer cut and more tension in the handles. The choppers are very loose in the handles. And have weaker pumps. And remember...it is a demo.People are rough on them.Go exmark!

There are alot of good brands out there with models that would do the job. I'll name a few; Toro, Bobcat, Bad Boy, Scag, Kubota, Grasshopper, Ferris,Lastec, Snapper Pro and Hustler to name a few. Some are faster, some are smoother riding, some might be tougher but they are all good mowers and they all excel at different things. Is the price the most important, or a close dealer or buying from the best dealer?

I would look at either a 30hp 72" Dixon or a 35hp 72" Grasshopper 335. I'd almost lean toward the Grasshopper to be able to get something with a suspension seat.

Well, we have a huge John Deere/Gravely Dealer. I'm going to have to go with a Gravely 72". Hands down best service dept. Pricey as He77, but good. Anybody have a new Gravely ???

If you have a Hustler dealer near you, check them out. IMO, Hustler is the best value in z mowers.
