I'm considering selling my FT Super Duty with 23hp Kawasaki engine and 48" deck with flex forks and mulching kit. I bought the mower new in June 2008 and it only has 16 hours on it. I have a hill in my back yard that is too steep for the ZTR so I am considering going to a tractor style mower. What would be a fair asking price for this mower? If it matters I am in Birmingham, Alabama. Any guidance you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Spring promo price on that unit is $6,299.00 this year, so I would think your going to under that a bit.
You need to make it appealing enough for someone not to buy a new unit with a full warranty, regardless of how many hours are on your and the excellent shape it is in.
Post some pictures here and lets see what people have to say.

I'll try to get some pictures put up next week. I'm assuming the spring promo price does not include flex forks or mulch kit, it that correct? I was thinking if I could get around $5,500 I would sell it. Does the remaining warranty transfer to the new owner?

Promo pricing wouldn't include the items you have on yours.
Your price isn't to bad with those, I think with spring upon us you should be able to sell it.

Would the remainder of the 4 year warranty transfer to the new owner?

Yes it would, sorry, I forgot to reply to that part of your question.
It has to be done through a Hustler dealer, the dealer will have the form that needs to be used to do so.

Please see the attached pictures and anyone who has input as too a fair price I would appreciate your comments. I absolutely love the mower, unfortunately I have a step hill that runs across my back yard that is difficult to mow with a ZTR. My wife teases me because I planted winter rye grass just so I could use it during the winter. The reason the hours are so low is my lot is only a total of 1/2 acre (including my house and drive ways) so it doesn't take me long at all to cut my grass. Again, any input on a fair price is appreciated, I put a lot of credibility in the members of this wonderful forum.

Besides the trim side of the deck having scratches and the deck having grass hanging down it looks like new. I would power wash the underside of the deck and price it $500 less than the promo pricing in your area and be willing to deal down another $500.

Wow, the mower looks brand new. I wish you were closer to Maryland, that's exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the input on pricing my mower djagusch. Bren I wish I was closer as well, it is just like new and will be a super buy for someone. Another question...what is the best place to advertise a mower for sale? I'm hoping there is a good website rather than the local paper. I've decided to ask $5,900 given to purchase this mower new with accessories using the promotional pricing it would be about $6,700 plus tax.

As someone who's been looking, the only places I know of online are ebay and craigslist.

If there are other places I'd like to know this as well.

If you can not sell the machine locally, I would be interested. I live in Louisiana though. We would have to work something out and arrange pick-up.

I am certainly open to meeting somewhere in between AL and LA. Send me an email and we can discuss (GTB210@aol.com).

I may be interested in your machine. I am in the market and considering a 48 reg fastrack or the superduty. I have not figured out how to send you a pm. Can you help me with that or call me at 850-622-0988. Thank you, Blake

What would be required to transfer the warranty? Would I have to pick the mower up from your dealer?

My understanding is you take the mower to a dealer and basically have it certified that it has not been abused or neglected then a warranty transfer form is sent to Hustler.

I am meeting a gentleman tomorrow to deliver and finalize the sale, if for some reason that falls through I have another gentleman with a back-up offer on it. The response on this mower has been unbelievable, there is obviously a market for good used Hustlers.

I recently found this source, mostly for Tennessee folks, but could also cover the surrounding States:
