Pine needle equations ?

I know there is a equation for mulch and the depth. But is there a equation for pine needles ? down here in the south we dont use much mulch so any help would be great.

Today I raked up boat load (actually 8'x4'x3') of pine needles from some landscape beds.

Just curious.. how much does it cost for pine needles?

We have found that 1 bale of long needle pinestraw generally covers about 35 square foot. Sometimes they go a little farther and sometimes they barely make the 35. Hope this helps.
