I am new here and i thought i would give you a little background about myself before i ask my question. I am 17 and have been mowing lawns on my street for 3 years. This time last year i got my license and started advertising in developments in my area. I got 3 more mowing jobs and 2 or 3 mulching jobs. This year i decided to go to the same developments and go door to door explaining who I am and that i was looking for some more jobs. I spoke to A LOT (20-25) of people who said they were interested and would give me a call.
2 have called about mulching. Should i be worried?? I gave them both a price the next day after taking a look. One yard i figured about 8 yards and there are no weeds, but they want the old mulch removed. I gave them a price of $400. They said yes right away. The other job needed 12 yards and there was no weeds and the mulch didn't need to be removed. I gave them a price of $550. They are currently thinking about it. I know i am not going to get every job, but are my prices reasonable for a kid? I advertised that i was a highschool student and i had very affordable pricing. Here are my costs:
Mulch per yard: $20 + $15 delivery per load
Labor: 1 assistant @ $8 an hour at about 1.75-2 yards per hour
Tools: 2nd 10 cu ft wheelbarrow $100 2nd 10 tine fork $50
My mowing jobs i charge $50-60 for depending on if they want edgeing and the size. 1.25 acres being the smallest and 2 the largest.
