So my parents live in a nice neighborhood so they save all the flyers they get so I can check them out. So far about 10 in 2 weeks. Anyways I got this one today. I think someone forgot to mention to this guy that organic pesticides still require a license. Actually he ran a landscape company, but did such poor work that he couldn't survive. And then there was the time he told a client he was going to go get his shotgun if she didnt pay him. Not sure I would call organic pesticides "safe", but I dont know a whole lot about them.
So how does this make you feel. If anyone wants the unedited I can email his number.

The 'safe for pets and children' statement bothers me. I don't think you can make such a statement just because you claim to be 'organic'

So can I eat it?
I would question this company's claim that it's products are non-toxic just because they are organic. Just about anything can be toxic if used incorrectly. Synthetic or organic. It dosen't really matter. I don't have a problem with organic programs as there is an ever increasing market for this type of service. I however, am not sold on a full organic program as I believe the cost, and the effectiveness of the products involved don't perform to my standards. I have seen these company's come and go time and time again. The real question is why advertise the safe non-toxic pitch? The first time someone has an allergic reaction to an organic product your asking for a lawsuit. Most fertilizers have to registered or approved for use in individual states ( at least here in Michigan) I would think organic control products should come under the same scrutiny to avoid any false claims.

Organic or not pesticides in NJ require a license. This guy holds no pesticide business license. Also in NJ the license needs to be listed on advertisements.

While cow manure is very organic, it is very toxic to humans. The human body needs water to survive but too much can be toxic.
This ad is false advertising and should be reported to the State Attorney General Office.

well the name of the company is new era organic fertilizing. He isnt saying anywhere that the weed or tick control is organic. He also isnt saying all of his products are non toxic, he simple says non toxic products which I am sure he carries. I always get the question are your products safe and I always reply, I put down everything in a safe manner at the recommended application rates. I would never say something is safe anyone, including animals can have an allergic reaction. Peanuts are safe for me but my neighbor will die if he eats one.

It is implied. This is where the problem lies. It i suggested that his service is safe for children and pets. Now we may look at this differently, but 90% of the people that receive this will think wow thank goodness I found you and your safe products, my last guy killed my dog. Poor fluffy was only 18 years old and died one night after they applied weed killer.
Dont for second think that someone who has the balls to illegally stuff mailboxes with flyers for their unlicensed pesticide business actually will have the ethics to tell the client that only some off the products they use are safe.

My question is "Does it work?" I looked into it a while back and the products could not cover all the problems we have. Which then you have to go with synthetics. Only thing I found organic is my B.S. PHD. (hope ya'll caught this)

What if you do organics but spot treat, is this any different from a company that does all chemicals but offers an organic program?
What if they clearly say we apply control products in an enviromentally responcible manner, is that misleading?

Humble I almost get the feeling that you would turn a blind eye to the situation if it was in your neighborhood. Everyone is welcome to their opinion as that was the purpose of the thread in the first place. The way I see it is that the average homeowner looks at it this way. There is TGCL and everyone else. This guy represents everyone else, as do I, you, and most others here. Most if not all of us have rates that are higher than TGCL. Should any of us provide a shady, misleading, or poor service than the homeowner will assume that the rest are like this as well. They will go back to TGCL and tolerate getting the dry shaft over and over because they are made to believe with the weekly upsell calls that the company really does care about the lawn. After all any problems are the problem of the lawn guy right? Things like this are hugely detrimental to our image in this industry and easily take away from all we have worked for to provide an image of an honest, intelligent, caring, knowledgeable service company. when someone asks if your products are safe say absolutly not. they can kill. and thats why you need a professional to take care of them.

And if they ask. "Are all my products are organic?"
I can say "Absolutely! ALL my products contain an element of carbon!"

Can't say I hate him because of the "shotgun" comment , but that flyer is not correct in any way. You cannot in the state of NJ call ANYTHING "safe" that you are applying for hire or not to someones lawn, that is the law.

And on a serious note, just for the record, Michigan has the same law.

If it is really the LAW then have him arrestted. All you can do is whine about it?
