View Full Version : How to tell between radial tires

Ok heres the deal I found a sweet deal on some 315's for my turck they are bfg at's. but when the guy took them off of his hummer they werent labeled as to which side they were on. Ive heard that if I put them on and "crossed them" the tires would eventually fall apart and I might die. true? is their anyway to tell what side they were on?

tell me this is a joke.
Some tires do have issues with rotating the other way, especially if unidirectional...contact your local BFG tire outlet and ask.

A directional tread should have arrows on the sidewall that shows what forward direction they go. Running them in reverse doesn't hurt anything.
Your not going to have a tire explode unless it runs hot then a tire will explode.
Just to be sure call BFG.
I recall it was the old bias-ply (pre-radial) tires that had issues with rolling the opposite direction once they were broken in (going the other direction).

those BFG A/T's don't have a tread direction....i had mine mounted with the black letters out and every 5,000 miles i rotated them in an X-pattern (rear-right to front-left, etc...) and never once had an issue

dude your fine with mounting the BFG AT's. They are non directional tires. They would usually say on the side wall if they were directional. A lot of high performance tires are directional and can only be mounted one way or premature tread wear will occur.

I have the 315's on my truck also and i think they have been the best tire yet. I have 40,000+ and they are still in decent condition, there are probably another 5,000-10,000 left on them. They do not have a direction that they need to rotate. Defiantly will buy another set.
