Cool, I'll actually be on Poole Ave. in Hazlet tomorrow right by the Toys R Us. You'll see my mason dump right on the side of the road. I'll be there most fo the day ripping out old concrete.

I do some work for Tommy Benning too, I'm sure you've seen his stuff around. I did his driveway at his new house.

I live off of Laurel Ave. in Hazlet.

If you go to my thread in this same folder....J. Davis Landscape Contractor 2009 you will see what my truck looks like so at least you know your not walking up to some random dude..... I'll most likely be in the mason dump tomorrow, have to bust out a lot of concrete, and I'll be working by myself tomorrow.

Guiseppes has some good food.....I have a paver job in Raritan Valley on Cresci Dr. that I will be starting the Monday after Easter if you are still in the area. Thats even closer to Guiseppes

Hey did u use the bob-cat in the 2nd pic in post 11? If so do u have a roller on it or what do you do to get such great stripes? Is the deck pitched and how far? Also you always seem to get your mowers very clean, what do you use a power washer?

Thanks

Thankyou ryan....i believe that lawn was not done we the bobcat. It was with my scag 61 cub. I did not have my bobcat yet. It does not have a roller....I usally boarder that lawn first....then do the angel twice...as there was some minor clumping. I believe i cut it at 3 1/4. At the end i boarder again and go off the curb. I dont like it when the turn shows in the stripes. I dont think the deck is pitch...i will check as i will prob break the scag out 2morrow. Been raining like every other day here. For the mowers i use the power washer and a degreaser...i will get the name of it for you 2morrow. Sorry for the late reply...just been very busy and trying to work long hours to beat the rain. Have a great season ryan and i will have more pics up soon

I love my bobcat because it has more power.....its my main battle mower. The scag i will break out if i want to change it up or want to give it some action. It has close to 2000 hours on it. They both cut very well. Have a great season

Yea everythings good man, the weather is killing me though! I cut one lawn on Briscoe too, Like I said I don't look for maintenance accounts but I'll take them if I could get them. I have 15 now and just pick one day a week and do them all. The lady is my mothers good friend. i forget the house number but she has a little well right in the middle of the lawn.

I'm hoping to get the walkway done on cresci tomorrow, and I sold them on a little flower bed retaining wall too, so I'll probably be there a couple more days. Then next week sometime I'm heading down to wall to do a paver patio. Its a little far but its a $7,000 job so I don't mind taking the ride. :)

Hey now that I think of it does your dad go to the bayshore gym on rt. 36 in airport plaza? I think I've seen his truck parked in there before. I've been going to that gym for like 7 years now.

Well guys sorry i have not posted in a while. Things have been crazy. It rains every other day and the grass keeps growing. We have had so much rain it is turning the lawns yellow. So far this month we have had 7.32 inches of rain and another 1-2 coming 2morrow. They say we will shatter the record of 10 inches back in 2003 for June. This June is also on paste to be the coolest ever.

We have been pulling long hours and we have been cutting in the rain, unless its a down pour. Wed we work from 7-8 cutting grass. The lawns need to be done. With all this rain, things have thicken up fast. We have been trimming on Mon and Tuesdays, yet some bushes still have flowers on them.(:dizzy: so we dont trim them) Took some pics and some of the new additions i have for my truck. I think for 2 weeks straight my hand where green, from unclogging the bagging system on my bobcat. It is just to wet to bag.

TLS,
How are you Bobcats while cutting in the rain?? I have a hard enough time with my Ferris cutting yards that have minimal moisture on them. My mower always starts cutting great but then with wet yards it will suddenly stop dispursing the clippings. Then when it decides to it lets go of everything thats underneath the deck. Not sure if this is just a problem with just my Ferris or with most decks with wet grass.
Whats everyones secret to cutting wet grass? Do you take off less and just go over it more times or just cut it at a normal 3" level and do what you can?? I found if i start off at 4" and cut it once, then go back and cut it at say 3 1/4 or so it works a little better. but getting a 3" cut out of wet grass is tough for me and involves a lot more work!

Are you charging more to cut 3+ times?? I added a surcharge this month of 10% for having to double cut the lawns the past two weeks and looks like we'll be going on a 3rd

I've been cutting 1 pass at 4.25" and a second pass at 3.5" or 3.75"

I won't cut below 3.5" unless specifically asked by customer...

I double cut every yard no matter what at my normal price unless its really thin or had minimal growth. I personally think double cutting brighthens up the lines and cuts the clippings a little better. I cant think of one lawn that i have that i could go over once right now and leave it that way. The grass in CT is still growing like crazy but im sure come july or august it'll slow down. Are you guys cleaning underneath your decks throughout the day?? No matter how much i clean mine out when its wet out the mower will burp all the clippings out a random times leaving horrible looking clumps throughout the yard!

My bobcat is cutting well.....the scag is having some problems. But that because i cant go full throttle on it. The bobcat is a 33 gen motor. So it better cut well. What i do is cut slow...then the 2-3 pass i speed up a bit. You go full speed it will clump. It sucks...but thats the way it is. I also sharpen and clean my deck before every weeks cut. It def makes a diff. I cut every lawn a 3.5. I dont cheap my customer. (sorry just my opion) Have a great season.
Also try to blow the lawn out for the blurps....dont waste time going over it again.

Jared i really dont kno how you get away with charging extra....my accounts need double cutting on dry weeks...perhaps its diff areas we serve. I dont charge them extra....im use to double and triple cutting. I dont like to leave clumps......and this so happens to be a year we are getting wet. It will turn around. Have a great season

I 100% percent agree with you. There is no lawn that i dont at least double cut. I also believe double sharpens the lines. My lawns are price out for this...so my wallet is not hurting. Its comes with the business.....im glad we think alike....have a great rest of the seasoon.

For the blurps i will run the blower of it....that takes care of it.

10% isn't a whole lot, its the same principle as charging extra to bag.

If you're cutting a lawn 3+ times you're on that property at least 1.5x as longer then normally. So if you're getting $60pmh its dropping to $40pmh which is a pretty large amount of $ to loose over a 10hr+ day.

People understand that I can not control the weather. I tell them we can bag it for X amount or side discharge until the clippings are nicely dispersed for 10% more.

The lawns do look great tho! I should've gotten some pictures of a few of my lawns I was literally cutting 4" off @ a 3.5" cut hieght.
