Any suggestions on how to get rid of armidillos tearing up yard?

Shoot them. Shoot them all.
In Florida we are allowed to kill them humanly, since they are not native.
I have tried every wives tale known and killing them is the only way to get rid them.

I am seriously considering that. We live in an area out of city limits, most yards are 1 acre and up. I have a little 22 Hornet with the right bullets will literally explode on impact so richotes (sp) are not a concern. Just seeing them is the problem, they are coming in at night.

treat the yard for the grubs and other insects, and the armadillos will forage elswhere at night. Or you could just build a road through your yard.

SEEING them is the problem! I've had one tear up the yard/flowerbed on and off for two weeks. After he hits, it is usually a couple days before he strikes again. I faithfully wake up every 2-3 hours trying to catch him in the yard (I'll get him with a shotgun)....but I get tired of it....let my guard down....and then he hits again. I even borrowed an animal trap specifically designed to catch these critters.....but alas, all I caught were 3 rabbits and an oppossum. NO DILLER!

This is war!

They do great damage. Had to kill a few myself. The tricky part is seeing them. Stay up late on a Friday or Saturday night, seems to work.

You may want to contact your game warden in Texas.
Like I said we are allowed to kill them in Florida. But you are not allowed to use spotlights. It is kinda the same rules as hunting deer.
In florida if you trap them it is illegal to release them anywhere.
And by the way they have a territory of seven acres. Usually one burrow but multiple shallow holes they dig for hiding in and foraging for bugs and worms.

It was.

An armadillo is nothing but an armored possum.

Let 'em get the bad grub infestations first. Go organic afterwards -- it's a actually a sign from God, you know -- and let your neighbors "hear the good news" when the critter moves on to their grub-havens
