View Full Version : How to store a plant for transplanting?

I have a customer that wants me to remove a vine from an arbor and save the plant for transplanting when she has time to do it.

I have never had to "store" a plant for transplanting nor have a transplanted a vine so I have a few questions.

How far back is it safe to trim the vine back?

And what should I do with the root ball once I get it dug out? I was thinking about just putting it in a trash bag and tying up around the base of the plant.
I am concerned that a plastic bag will hold too much heat, however. Should I try to find a burlap bag? Where can I find one?

Thanks for the help!
