in case no one realized the questoin is, is there a reason to buy shindaiwa over redmax?

They both make great equipment...It just comes down to preferance! I own all redmax 2 cycle machines. Redmax trimmers are just more comfortable for me.....I like the head better also.

I've heard only good things about both.

What dealer do you like better?

Both brands I think will be big competitors in the future along with Echo. All three make good products so I guess it all comes out to the price and comfortability.

I know that the redmax and shidiawa blowers are almost the same, but are you sure about the trimmers, and the articulating hedge trimmers. Also that price on the AH230 is way too high.

I have all shindiawa stuff and I love it. It costs more than stihl or echo, but over the last two seasons I had only one problem with one of my trimmers and it was covered under warranty. I have 5 trimmers, 2 edgers, 2 blowers, and 1 hedge trimmer. I also have some stihl stuff and I absolutely hate it. It might just be the particular items that I have, but I wouldn't buy another stihl product.

As far as echo goes, I have a friend with all echo stuff and it seems like something is always broken. They are much less expensive though.

sorry, I guess I didn't really answer the question. I don't have any redmax products but I do own T-270s and EB-630s and they are the best you can buy in my opinion. I know the redmax blower has a larger air filter.

Holy crap, 475 for an EB7000? Thats pretty sweet, best I can get around here is 550. Shin makes better than most brands products, but Redmax definetly has the best.

One of the local dealers here told me shindaiwa parts take longer to get. I have always used echo and have rarely had any problems with them, parts availability is good. I run 2 echo trimmers, 2 blowers, stick edger, dual sided hedge trimmer, chainsaw, and a post hole digger/auger ( used for fences and decks in the winter). It is my understanding all three of these manufacturers have quality commercial equip., my only question would be can I get parts quickly and easily for them.

Hoagie,

Redmax stuff can be bought at alamia.com. Most items are shipped free. They don't sell shindaiwa anymore though. They do have the EB7000 for 475.00

I've probably got close to two dozen trimmers of various makes including redmax, shindaiwa, husqvarna, and maruyama; basically any good brand except echo and stihl which I tend to shy away from. I don't necessarily think they are inferior, they just don't work for me...........Lynn

I just bought the Redmax CHTZ2500 hedge trimmer on the net and paid $199 + shipping. It is brand new and this thing ROCKS. I will send you the e-mail of where to get one if you want. I got mine today. It comes in the original box with all paperwork.

:blob3: REDMAX, all my equipt. is redmax had them all but nothin touches the redmax. if you look close at the shin engine you'll see the komatsu sticker on it, which is redmax, a friend of my bought a redmax short block for his shin and was identical. P.S. Alamia is great but up here we have a supplier selling the 7000 for $430, if anyone needs info drop me an email, tony

Just my opinion, here but ya did ask:)

I don't think there is a better 2-cycle product made than Shindaiwa. Having said that, I DO think that Redmax is in every way an equal to the Shindaiwa brand. Just not better. I don't see where picking one over the other could be seen as a compromise. Personally, I would buy the one I could get the best price and service on.(loaner if yours hits the shop? My Shindaiwa dealer does) Good luck and this one's a no brainer. With these two brands you can't make a bad choice.

Red Max, Red Max, Red Max!!! I am bias.... I have been dealing with them for about 13 years. Echo's pretty good to. I just prefer Red Max. I have tons of dealers here and that works for me. I never tried the Shin's. See if you can test them at your local dealer. I look at equipment from four angles: production, reliability, parts and service. Good Luck
