One of threads going on started talking about books, I get this question all of the time and would love to hear from a diversified group

the ones I always say are:
Dr. Elaine Ingham "a guide to compost tea"
Jeff Lowenfels "teaming with microbes"
NOFA " standards for organic land care" www.organiclandcare.net
Paul Tukey: "The organic lawn care manual" boring read but great reference

Please help me out with others, Paul Sachs I haven't read yet. I think Chip Osborne has one out
He'll kill me if I don't mention Shep Ogden (he is our marketing guy) he has written 6 books on organics

Come on jump in

I second Jeff's book and the NOFA standards, I've tried three times to finish Tukeys book, boring is an understatement.

Neil Kinsey Hands on agronomy
Paul Sachs Edophos, and the other one about lawns, ecological lawn something I forget the name, both good reads though.

Have you ever heard Tukey speak? It's all about him.
OTOH, Jeff is very entertaining & informative, and great to share a drink with

No I plan to attend a conference if he has one that I can get to around my area sometime.

I don't get how everyone seems to know this guy. Like there are at least 5 people on this site who claim to know him personally and I know multiple other people who know him as well. Where and when does he have the time to get all these contacts?;)

Jeff is a very personal guy. He loves to tell stories and he travels and has many speaking engagements. He was at State College last year, too bad you missed him.

Because he borrows money everywhere he goes, if they know him he probably owes them money :)

bringin the book thread back...

Anyone know of any books that teach beginners chemistry? Like a "teaming with microbes" style of a book maybe that teaches it in common place terminology and in applicable concepts... I know chemistry is a killer to learn... I already know some basics from hs chem wayyyyy back but I know nothing rly and know that I won't get anywhere w/o going back to the basics. I want to learn fundamentals at least then move into a more horticulturally specific chemistry book.

So again,
A basic, beginners chemistry book.

thx
