I asked this on another forum and I might as well get opinions from here too.

Do you guys think this is a good start-up mower for a small lawn care service. Most yards would be about 1/4 of an acre with a couple 2/4 & 3/4.

Also, do you think the price is good?

Thanks in advance.

Mower looks to be in ok condition, would probably wanna know the hours on it, but it looks good. I would offer the guy $1200 myself and see if he would take it.

Yeah that looks like a really nice mower!! I would also look to find a nice used scag or exmark. I got my 36" scag for 900 and my 48" for 1100 and they are awsome used mowers.

I'm thinking about purchasing this one instead. Might as well spend a little more for something I know will be a great mower.

I'm going to offer $2000 for it an hopefully he takes it.

Go with the scag, its bullet proof. The blades on the deere are keyed and some don't like the tranny on the deere. Good luck.

I would go with the deere because it less lawns I would have to mow to make my money back. Also you would be 1000 bucks closer to getting a ZTR. The deere will last just as long as the scag. I would go with the scag if it was hydro.

I mowed for years with belt drives and sulkys......it works just fine....if you are just starting out I would limit your debt and bank the extra money.....

hey there Bowtie,
Welcome to the business. I think that you have found two good mowers and either will get you started off well. I did not see the engine size on the JDeere.

What areas are you working in?

Whatever you do check it out well before you spend your money, some craigslist sellers are not so honest, but I have picked up some great bargains using cl.

I'll be working in South County, particularly the Mehlville area.
