I know of people who have owned them and they are weak. Poor cut, blades are time cogged, now where as nice as the hydro Jd's. Also they scalp. And I like JD bigtime but not impressed with this mower at all.
I have a GS 45 and it serves me well, nice cut , hasn't let me down in the last three years.
However I would stay away from the older yellow deck mowers.

The GS~30 is a 13 hp Kohler ~ 36"/48" cut belt drive, they do not have a cog drive, the blades are not timed, all the new units or after 98' are nice machines, my only pet peve is the shallow decks, they do not offer a good vacume of the turf, but the cut is good.
