My transmission on my scag is pretty much done for so i decided to buy a new trans. The number on my peerless is 3094-p1 stamped on the cover in a little triangle. The replacement on ebay is Peerless Transmission 700-078A Scag Toro 5 speed.
The link is

Will this one on ebay replace the one that i have? Is there a way i can tell?
Thanks

I post these pics a while back but the info on finding your trans numbers is the same.

Really  well thats not good. Well the basic things you need to know are the speed(or amount of gears 4or5) you currently have and also if your trans has the larger newer 9spline output shafts or the older 36spline. If that trans you have found matches then I would say that is a good price.

ok i know it is a 5 spd trans and we are pretty sure it's a 9 spline but we are checking now to make sure. if it is a 9 spline then the one on ebay is a 5 spd and a 9 spline trans do you think it will work. the trans looks exactly the same in the pictures of it

I would think you should not have an issue. It is listed as the Scag replacement.

Maybe you just need shifter keys, really easy to tell. Just pull the top off the tranny, move shifter collar all the way out and inspect the keys. This is the most common problem on peerless. Especailly if you are running a sulky and shifting on the fly.

Well not exactly but you're not far away, other than the couplers you need
both the outer shafts leading to the belt pulleys.
If it were my mower I would do it, if for no other reason than 9 spline is the way to go
and you're already that far into the repair anyhow, those 9 splines the gears don't strip.
