I have been looking at both of these aerators and was wondering if anyone has used the power-plug by Encore? They look a lot alike and I have found info on this site for the Plugr by Rock Solid but nothing on the Encore. Any help???

Ask 65hoss about the Plugr...he loves 'em.

I believe plugr makes that unit for Encore. They just paint it a different color for Encore. Should be basically the same unit with all the same specs.

Yep, Rocksolid is making the unit for encore.

I do love mine. I have 2 now. The first one I got was in 2000 and its been 100% great. Still running the original belts and tines.

Personally, I would buy it from Rocksolid, I can verify they have great customer service. Can't verify that for encore. My experience with encore has been less than appealing. Although, you could still get parts from rocksolid.

Thanks! I just found out that Rock Solid makes the power plug for Encore because Encore does not sell enough to make their own. They are made in Lincoln NE, and sent to Encore in Beatrice NE, 35 miles down the road! :)

Hoss... can you post a pic or email me a pic of the setup if you have one. I am curious of the setup.

I have the chance to buy a used Snapper power plugger ($800 canadian funds) and was wondering if it is similiar to the Plugr. We still have alot of snow here so i have no way of testing it to see how well it works.

65Hoss,
I have a Ryan drum-type aerator. I love providing this service, great money, but the machine definitely beats me up. Is this pluggr more user friendly? How are the plugs? How is it to turn?

I just received a broshure and video tape from Rock Solid yesterday. Looks like a fine machine. Turning the machine looks simple because of the split drive.

Addison Turf Care:

Price quoted to me was around $2200 for the Honda engine not including delivery.

I hope that price($2200) is for the plugr 600 (cam action)...Blue bird wants $2200 for a none cam action aerator and ryan has a cam for much more$$$......I'm trying to find out if there are any dealers in the southeast to ask about pricing????

That is the plugr 600 and that is the price. The lady I talked to said they are running a special right now, $1995 for the Briggs 5.5 and $2195 for the Honda 5.5!!

This unit does not have the split drive, my fault. I was thinking of a Classen model.

Saw them both at a trade show, and they look identicle except for the differnet color cover... The prices I heard were in the mid 3K range.... Thought that was alittle steep for something so simple ?? Not much to them ?? ? But that could be good seeing as there is not much to go wrong with it ?

They are running a special, but it is running out very soon. If any of you want one at that price you better order it fast. They are a very good company with good customer service. I have the 600 comm'l models with 5.5hp hondas. Great machine and EASY to use. No beating you up. Just like being behind a 21" self prop mower.

Are you guys getting that price form Rocksolid direct or through a dealer? That's a great price. Was going to pick one up as well at the end of the summer, but may have to purchase now. Let me know where you're ordering it from . Thanks.

That price is from Rock Solid. You can get that price if you do not have a dealer in your area but Rock solid will not sell one to you direct if you are in an area with a dealer! They do not have dealers to represent all areas, so they sell direct to some, others have to go through their dealers(the reason for the price differences).

Just came back from my dealer to see if he could get the PL600 Plugr for me. I wanted the 5.5 Honda for the $2200 price. He called back and said he could get me the PL600 with the Briggs for $1500!!!. Although I would rather have the Honda, The amount of hours that this unit will get each year is nominal compared to saving over $700. I had just inquired about this unit about a month ago and it was going for around $2800. At $1500, I was actually thinking about buying a second one. Whats going on at Rocksolid, are they discontinuing this model or something?

Gentelman,
Wanted to clarify a couple things. Hoss65 put me onto the Plugr. I just ordered the 600H (H=Honda 5.5 hp) this week. The retail price from Rock Solid is $2800 (manufacturers Suggested). Rock Solid is running a PROMO right now for $2195 for the 600 Honda unit (Don't think it includes shipping). This promo according to Rock Solid was extended thru the end of the month. If you want more info, call Dee at Rock Solid 888-418-9065 and talk to her. Hoss65 gave me her name and shes been great to deal with. From what I've been told these things are easy to operate and don't kick the S*** out of you by the end of the day.
If you talk to Dee, tell her that Jeff Kraus in Minneapolis told you about them.
Good Luck !

P.S. Addison....you stated that if you could get them for $2200, you're buying.................Gin and Tonic for me...E-mail me and I'll give you my address to send it...(lol):)

I've heard a lot about how easy the Rock Solid's are to use but how well do they pull plugs? I had a Snapper that used the engine to power the tines in the ground but the plugs it pulled were lousy. I've used Ryans and Bluebirds that use the weight of the machine as well as add on weights and they are hard to use and manuver but pull excellent plugs even in hard ground.

Tell me about how well it plugs in hard ground. I don't see how a lightweight machine like this is going to go deep into the ground. If the ground is somewhat hard why wouldn't the machine just lift up when the tine hits the ground?

I want to belive but because of the Snapper I used to have I'm a sceptic.

It pulls real good plugs and easy. I aerate concrete here in July and it works good. I have compared the plugs to others and it holds up very well.
