Hi I'm new here, I have been lurking here for about a month reading all this information.first off I am a self employed bricklayer for 30 years, and things have slowed way down. so I'm thinking about the mowing thing.love working out doors.I have been reading about cards,flyiers,yard signs and etc.but have not seen anything about advertising in local newspapers in the who does it section.does it work or is it a waste of time.just wondering.thanks.

Some newspapers are either worth there weight in gold or are a total waste of time and money. Chances are good if no other LCO is advertising in that paper either you are in a remote area of the world with VERY little competition (which is highly ulikely) OR others have found that particular paper or way of advertising doesn't work well in your area.

The key to advertising is to tryand get your name in front of as many people as possible (obviously) so it's kind of trial and error until you find what works best for you and your service... Some will say flyers work best, others will comment that a direct mailer gives them the best results, while still others will say word of mouth and so on and so forth...

One way to find out is plan a certian budget and only spend that amount in advertising and see what gets YOU the best results, only way you'll know for sure man...
