ok so kubota zd18 won't shut off when i turn back the key.

it starts fine and everything. the gages go dead when i shut it off but the motor keeps running.

this box was making some noise just after i shut it down (about 1 or 2 sec of buzzing). i took it off and cleaned it but i can't get inside of it it's sealed.

anyone have any idea what's wrong?

here are some pics of the box that was making noise. no idea if this is the problem?

i seem to remember this problem when i put it away last winter but i had it out the other day and everything worked fine. it's not working today though.

I was thinking relay...
Stuck in a certain position, it's keeping the connection closed despite the ignition switch being turned off.

I'm Sorry but I don't know by the model # if it's Diesel or not. If it is, it's probably the fuel shutoff solenoid

yes it's a kubota diesel 18hp

The shut off solenoid is probably part of the fuel pump. Try to clean the terminals so you have good contact. See if that helps.

well the selenoid is external and it's not getting any power to it.i put 12v to it with the charger and it works. so i don't think it's the selenoid. i'm still thinking it's something in that box.

i have no idea. that do you guys think.?????? i'm going to go wiggle some more wires around.

Do you have a meter or test light ? You know the solenoid works, Did you clean up the contacts ? I think you should have voltage at those terminals with the ignition in the run position. Follow those wires and clean any connections you find, if that does'nt work then it may be that control box.

I would clean connections first, that box is probably not cheap. Besides it's electronic, normally not much can go wrong with it, I think

I hope this helps you. By the way, how are you shutting it down now ? My Toro's have a plunger on the solenoid that you can push to manually close it, should you have an electrical problem. I have one that we have to do that to sometimes, because the connector gets dirty and not enough juice to activate the solenoid. Try to avoid pinching the fuel line too much.

well i figured out. i've impressed myself.

there is a quick connect conjuction that connects that black box.

one out of the 16 plugs was rusted out at the bottom. i almost missed it and plugged it back in. it was barely loose in there with no visible corrosion or rust i could see.

i'll stop at radio shack to see if they have one of those little plugs. if not it's jumping time.

cheap fix. i'm selling it if anyone is interested :cool2:
