Just thought I would show some pics of my stuff. The walkbehinds are a Snapper 48" , a Scag 72" and a Scag 48". As you can see the push mowers are junk but we dont use them much so they work. All of the handhelds are Echo with a Jonsered saw.

The 72" is only 145lbs heavier than the 48". The Snapper is like a Cadillac when you get on it after the Scags because its so light.

y dont you get a z?

towtruck212

because i can run my whole business for less than the cost of a Z and I dont mind riding on the back of a walkbehind. I have $5700 in all three mowers.

That 72 needs ran off a cliff. That has to be a pita to run. What did you get the deck of off?

towtruck212

Thats how they were made as a 72", its the same chassis as the 61". Its not hard to run, is a hydro and is just like any other walkbehind just bigger.

That was never available to buy. That has to scalp like crazy.
Can you touch the deck when you turn?

joseph, they actually were made like that in the late 90's. This wont make sense but they did also sell the 72'' with the belt drive option and had a 18 hp kohler. The hydros have amuch larger engine though.

Yet another reason why I never owned a scag in 16 years!! Hope your mowing some flat sh!t. How does someone keep it from scalping?

it probably scalps a lot on hills. but id love to have one for open fields. alot cheaper than a z.

use the 48" to cut everything in and where we know the 72" cant go. use the 72 for the rest on bigger stuff of coarse. Very simular to painting the 48" is the paint brush and the 72" is the roller

towtruck212

sure it scalps but its just like anything else you know where you can use it and you know where you cant. Or i guess you can scalp places enoug hit dont scalp anymore.lol

I have actually seen a 72 belt drive in person. Low cost ways to do some big flat areas. My only concern would be is it the same tranny being used for a 48 belt. If it is then you are putting alot a strain on it. The 72 is prolly best with a hydro like you have.
