Forgive me for posting this here if I shouldn't. My friend's nephew has bailed on his lawn biz and left him holding the bag..... He now is the proud owner of a 2007 Toro Z441 Z master with the 48" Turbo Force deck; the mower has 148 hours on it and it is pristine. He has no idea what it's worth, and frankly, I don't want to value it since I may want to buy it myself. Can anyone give us a reasonable value on this mower? Thanks.....

What engine does it have? According to the Toro price sheet I have with the hrs on it and if the engine is a 23hp kaw its worth $6,500.00 to $7,000.00 Keep in mind this is suggested resale price and actual sale price is up to you. Pics would help a lot.

In this market (slow sales) it's worth what you can get for it. For a friend I might offer pay off but it's probably not worth that much, due to the whole depreciation thing. Around here you lose 25% when you take it off the lot.

You know the condition, he probably just wants to get rid of it make a deal that is good for both of you.

Good Luck,

Garett

Thanks guys. It has the 21 horse Kaw on it, a little underpowered I think. Pictures probably won't make much difference, the mower looks brand spanking new. The paint still shines, no scratches, no rust, heck, there's no grass stains on it! The mower is paid for, (I don't know what it cost him back then) and I'm told he's looking to get 50 cents on the dollar. I'd hate to pass up an opportunity to get a virtually new mower for that kind of money, and a 48" deck is actually going to be more productive (allowing more access) than the 52" Gravely I currently have. Any further thoughts are certainly welcome.

At fifty cents on the dollar I'd find new retail and make him an offer today...
That 21 horse Kawi will mow just fine if you keep up with the growth and don't have any big hills, if you do it will be a little slow. Bat at fifty cents on the dollar you could use it al season with a for sale sign on the back and make a few bucks. At that price it would become my favorite mower.

Is that new or used suggested pricing? Sounds high for used. I've been trying to sell a 48" 21hp Ferris zero turn for 6 months. It's a 2007 with 155 hours. Started at $5000, have dropped to $4500, and still have it. Had several people interested in it, but nobody could get the money.

1/2 off sounds like a deal. If you need it and can afford it, go for it. If you don't need it, that's a lot of money to have sitting around in an asset that is depreciating (unless you need a tax reduction).
