I have adjusted the pins on the control bar and my stander will still not track straight. I dont know much about it obviously but i was just curious if anyone had any suggestions. Does this mean one of the hydro pumps is going bad? Thought i would ask before i take it to a dealer and they charge me a bunch for something i maybe could fix. Thanks

Every mower does this after a while. The wrights I have used are just a bit worse.

Every hydro I have ever run tracks worse it as it ages. If it suddenly came upon it that is differant and there may be some "fix". If it came along slowly there may not be one short of spending big bucks.

The linkage gets just a little slop at each joint, the hydro pumps and motors leak by worse starting at hour one untill the point we find them unusable. I can hardly run a new machine that does exactly what it is told to do. I need some sloppiness in my hydros, LOL. Rough lawns do make the more leaky and sloppy hydros harder to keep in line. There is something to say for an ole gear drive when it comes to straight mow'en, at least in my walk behinds. There is a big mowing service here in town that has all Wright standers and mowing staright aint one of their trademarks, I have never run one.

if its an older stander, look down at the block/clamp plate that connects the yellow control bracket to the pump shaft. its the peice that has the 2 black allen head bolts goint thru it. If its a thin walled stamped loocking bracket/clamp, those tend to wear out and start to slip on the pump shaft and cause erratic tracking and lose of foward/reverse speed. Wright has updated that design to a machine aluminum thick block/clamp that really grips the pump shaft well and makes a world of difference in tracking. You can get it from a wright dealer, part # 96410001 . order one for each pump and its not a bad idea to order and replace those allen head bolts at the same time and start fresh. Then retrack it out and see what happens

if you do have the new style pump clamps already, then it may just be pumps/motors getting weaker with age and wear.

Actually the new style is the stamped ones I think. The old style was the aluminum blocks and those were more prone to wearing. At least the newest ones I ordered in the past year were more of a stamped steel design.

nope, other way around. We are a Wright dealer and have updated 50-75 older standers and sentars, so we are pretty familiar with them The thin stamped steel(open in the middle/ U shaped)is the older 2001-2004 style for units with serial numbers below 20400 I believe. Then they issued a bulletin with the introduction of the aluminum block/solid design style that basically superseeded the old style in late 04-05. I believe the number i gave above (96410001) is the new style number, but cant be sure till I get back into the serv dept on monday. But for some reason that number came up instantly in my mind, which means we must have ordered and used bunch of them ;-) But i will double check and update the post on monday to be sure.

Now the newer sentars and standers 2006+ all started using the new hydro gear pump supplied universal style assembly, which is a totally different beast and kind of has a few different moving plates to it, all bolted to the pump. These style should not have any slippage issues as they have been bascially bullet proof.

yes, it is part# 96410001. here is a link to the 2006 service handbook. Go to page 22-23 (bulletin #45) for some good info and pics if you do in fact have a older unit that has the clamp slippage issue.

We are also a dealer for them. I coulda swore the last batch that I got was the stamped ones. I will have to look on the shelf on monday.

We had one in the shop last year that was so worn, we thought the pump may have been bad since that side would hardly move at all...but it turned out to be these silly things just rotating ont he pump shafts.

Did they recently add some service literature to the dealer site? I have not logged in in a while and never noticed that PDF before.

yes, finally they added a couple of years back service update books, manuals , bulletins and some other good info that we can jump into and find fairly quickly. There finally moving up into the computer tech world, info wise and catching up with the big boys like toro, exmark and scag.

So if the left side goes twice as fast as the right side this could be the problem? My buddy says its gotta be the pump. Also do you know how much those parts run. Thanks for the help

Thank you so much viper those new clamps made my mower run like it was brand new. $40 for bothclamps and new bolts is all it cost. If ianyone is having this problem on the old stander get those clamps replaced.

Yah, those are the ones I have here...dunno what I was thinking of then...but whatever.

Yah any older machine, check those things first. Allways nice to find that its something cheap isntead of a pump or motor.
