Has anyone encountered a similar situation? The belt has been taken off and the 2 set screws have also been removed. I am wondering what the best way is to approach this. I hit the pulley with a hammer and i am not getting anything. Does the end of the shaft come off where i removed the set screws from?

You need to sray WD-40 where the shaft comes through the pulley. let it soak spray it a few times. It's probably corroded in there, and you need penetrating oil to loosen it up. I you have a puller, put it on and tighten it up, then smack the end of the puller with a hammer. It's just stuck.

Why are you taking it off ?

There's a C-clip on there!

I believe it's down below, although...
IF I recall correctly, and I could be wrong, but I think...

Now from here on out I can't guarantee that nothing will break.
And I just don't remember clearly at what stage of the process I used this trick.

But you might try and find a flat-end, round device like either a socket you won't be using again,
or perhaps an extension, maybe even a flat end punch.
And place that socket on top of the center piece (what's it called, an axle..) making sure it fits inside the pulley,
but it has to be big enough around so it doesn't fall through the hole, if I recall correctly,
then with a good size hammer just SMACK that center piece down, might take more than one blow.

If it helps, I know I have a socket I use for the purpose of replacing spindle bearings and it is 'marked' from hammer blows :p
It's a pretty good size socket, might be 3/4" but I'm not sure, has to be big enough to just fit that piece in center,
not fall through and still fit inside the pulley hole...

But see if that works...

You need a pulley puller and some wd-40

get a puller. they cost maybe 15-20 and will have it off in seconds. any other way and you will likely cause more than that in damage. go to auto parts store. you can use in on tie-rods and other jobs also.

I have a puller, i dont think it will work because the end where the set screws is wider then the actual shaft the pully is around, i think that the end part needs to come off to let the pulley drop down and when i put that puller on it it will just be fighting its self. I will give it a shot later on after dinner.
Thanks

HEAT, HEAT Heat! If it's stuck and there's no other lock bolts or screws, there's only one way to get it off - get the torches and heat it up. It'll come off then - for sure.

A picture would help

I just pulled one last week. If your puller is too large in diameter, put something like a socket against the shaft. I didn't use heat at all. It is just a tight fit. I would not recommend any tight hammering on it. Good luck

Sorry for the bit with the hammer trick, that won't work,
I was thinking blade pulleys by accident.

Wd-40, lots.
And a puller.
