I have a grasshopper 223 with a 23hp kohler v twin it has about 350 hrs on it. It runs good generaly both running with no load (blades not engaged) and with blades engaged, but after about 15 - 20 min it sputterd and died. I walked to the truck to get a pair of pliers about 5 min round trip (funny how it happens where your as far from the truck as you can get) when i got back i tried to start it and it fired right up. I ran it about 10 min or so and it did the same thing again. So far i know the spark plugs are good new last week and torqued to 22ft/lb. I changed the fuel filter at that time so it is new. The second time it died i immediately pulled the connection closest to the carborator off and cranked the key and it was pushing fuel out so i know that it is getting fuel to the carb. I dont think it is anything electrical because it will sputter around and idle some if i pull the throttle back but eventualy die. I dont know if it is either getting flooded or not getting enough fuel. I ran it about an hour or hour and a half last week and it was just fine. Since then the plugs, fuel filter, air filter, oil filter, and oil were all changed but i cant seem to figure where any of those would cause this. Anyway any ideas would be greatly appriciated.

Air lock at the gas tank? Try running it without the gas cap in the shop (door open) and see if that helps.

Hmm, Bad gas maybe? Perhaps there's some water in it.

Or a bad/intermittent seat/safety switch, try bypassing it to see if it's bad.

Just some ideas I had.

Your best bet is to get a certified kohler engine guy to take a look at it and test some things...
