I want to know why Stihl no longer sells crank bearings for the 4 mix blower. I was told that the whole crank assembly has to be purchased. that you cannot buy the bearing seperate. It didn't use to be this way. Why now ?

Probably had a problem with too many crankshaft journals being torn up, when the bearing spun or froze, then getting complaints that the new bearings destroyed their crankshaft, and if you turn the shaft as it should be how do they know how oversize the new bearing needs to be. Besides it would probably cost you more to turn the crank, than buy a new a new one. Just start out with all new in there and you can't go wrong.

well the problem is I rebuild these units to resell for profit. if I have to buy a new crank shaft assembly then I would be lossing instead of gaining. I think these bearings have #'s on them. Can I get them from a parts warehouse that sells bearings.

You can try that. But check those crankshaft journals, it would'nt be fair to sell someone a machine with new bearings, and a scored crank. Those bearings won't last long like that.

Try J Thomas, they may have it, you should be able to pull up a schematic of your engine, I just did on my Redmax blower. I think I have the same problem you do.
