got a 44" ferris is1500 to replace my encore 34" ride on zero turn.the encore was great!!! hands down a beast that gave me 800 hrs of problem free operation. sucked up every speck of leaf for cleanups. the problem was it was slow. and the side bagger only held.... well not much... that was ok when i only had 5 lawns. so now i have 15. and about 20 calls this week for estimates. not ready to upgrade the truck or trailer yet i went with another small mower. but the ferris is like compairing an original vw bug. to an new honda civic. faster and much better ride. pluss it am getting a double bagger.. my problem is i hooked up an old side bagger to the feeris to see if i could do some cleanups till the real bagger with fast vac came in.... i almost cried. the blades are regular grass only blades. didnt suck up any thing. just left things stuck in the grass and mulched half the leaves and shot the other half in the bag. they dont make any other style blade. the best i can to is an exmark blade that is deffinitly higher lift, but a quarter inch longer at 15 1/4 inches.

will the fast vac really improve the "cleanup" ability of this mower. or should i go ahead and custom make my blades.. i know i can do it right. (access to a machine shop.) perfectly ballanced!!

Yup, I know what you're talking about...
Same thing with my Toros, they create so much airflow it sounds like a
jet powered industrial vacuum cleaner when the blades are engaged.
It blows so good, too.

But on my Ztr?
L.O.L.
All it does is make a mess.

I think, unfortunately, the problem lies in the internal flow design of the deck.
You can try, keep looking, go through every brand mower blade made, and you might find one that works, but I never did.
The fact they don't make a true high lift blade for some machines isn't helping.

Now I won't be buying another Z, thou that's not the only reason.

Have you looked through an Oregon or Stens catalog? there are some aftermarket blades that fit the Ferris.

It may take a little searching, but you should find something!

Grind an eighth inch off the exmark blades on each end...sounds "do-able"

Oh and by the way...the title you opened with should read "WOE IS ME!!"

Sorry, but I sometimes have to correct English that is "way off"
Not bashing but hopefully teaching...

thanks for pointing that out. i don't mind learning something new. and as a follow up to the after market post.. i can't find any 15 inch blades to save my life. but i did go ahead and by the exmark 15 1/4. will shave them this week.

go to tracks plus and get a set of their eliminator blades. Made a huge difference in the bagging ability of my quick, much better than gator blades. All you need is the length of the blade and bolt size. I think the blade they had for my quick was a ferris blade, they will have one that will help you.
