I have a John Deere 36" walk behind GS30 model with a 13 kohler engine. The mower is belt driven. I bought it new in 2004. Once a year, I have a problem with the carbuerator. It gets moisture in it, and it idles irregularly and has problems starting. This year, it has not done that, but it is leaking gas because gas fills up in the carbuerator. I took the air filter off and gas was filled up in there. It has leaked all over the deck. It is not constant, I took off the dump bowl, cleaned that out and in doing so, drained the gas that was sitting in the carbuerator. The next day it was filled back up again. How do I stop the gas from filling up and leaking?

Replace the float needle valve, Along with the fuel filter and flush the fuel line.

Is there something I need to flush through the line, or just drain it? Is the float needle valve under the dump bowl?

Just let a little fuel run through the line after installing the new filter to remove any trash from installing.

You have to remove the float mount pin then the float, Then you can get to the float needle valve and seat for replacement.

CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER !!!

You will probably regret it if you don't.
Before you run it again, anyhow.
