I have an hps spreader that only runs faster in reverse than in forward. It's forward transport speed is only about the same speed as my permagreen. Any ideas.

1st thing to check is that the tensioner pulley(plastic) for the drive belt is not frozen.
2nd. thing is to adjust you forward cable so getting the same amount of pull since both the forward and reverse cable attach to the same input lever on the side of the hydro trans. Adjustment can be made under the dash/handle assembly.
3rd. Have someone work the forward and reverse(unit off) and look @ the trans on the right side and spray the moving parts with a penetrating/lube type of spray find lots of units that get rusted from fertilizer and water clean off.
4th. also check your engine rpm's at full throttle, I find lots of them with low rpm's should be 3600 under no load

Thanks MowerMedic. I was hoping you would reply. We are supposed to have rain tomorrow so I'll check it out and let you know what worked.
