Yeah,...that's my problem. I don't get an appetite until I've been on the go for a couple of hours, so it is mid-morning before I get a good appetite going. Some times, if I'm alone and I have to stop back in to the base for something, I'll take advantage of it and gt a quick bowl of oatmeal or cereal. Sometimes, I'll just grab a bacon McGriddle (or two) or something on the go. Once in a while, I'll treat myself to a sit own restaurant dinner...preferably near an account. I do have one account I do that is a cool 50's style diner. I like going in there and eating, and atleast giving back to account.
The thing is, is I live alone, and by the time I g through the time of making something, eating, then I have all the dishes and pans to clean up, it costs about as much as what it does to just eat out.

I used to use that excuse too. But eating out is triple the cost as home.

Solo guy here also. I do eat breakfast out every morning at a sit down restaurant. Better and more relaxing than a fast food joint.

I do brown bag my lunch everyday. I finish a job, pull out my lunch and enjoy some tunes. No hunting for a place to park at a wawa or 7-11 or similar. Most of the time you can't find a parking spot anyway at these places for lunch. I fiqure I can get one more job done on average a day by brown bagging my lunch.

As far as dinner, half the time I eat out.

I save about $50 a week making it at home!!

Shredded wheat one day, waffles another day, egg sandwich.......

Sandwich for lunch, or if I have leftovers, put them in a tupperware, toss under the hood for a couple hours.......hot lunch...

Not sure of the savings, but I would rather buy a tool thats needed vs eating.........:waving:

50 a week? so your eating 10 dollar breakfasts 5 days a week? or $8.33 breakfasts 6 days a week? thats assuming you dont pay anything for food at home.(ie live with your parents) i think your calculations are off.

lets say you spend 50 a week for 5 days on breakfast. most meals these days cost around 3 dollars just to make yourself. so your saving $35, not 50.

that or your spending like 80 a week on breakfast (which is rediculous) and only 30 at home, yielding a 50 in savings. at 80 a week you could afford a newer 3/4 ton for that much.

anyway, for me, i make most my meals at home, but eat out with the GF on the weekends occasionally. i dont eat out much all week as im trying to cut up for summer, my diet consists of chicken breasts, tuna, egg whites, protein shakes, cottage cheese, steamed veggies, and some complex carbs here and there.

Only day i eat breakfast is saturday when my dad, my friend and his dad go to a local diner at 6am. Other than that, no breakfast, eat lunch around 10am and then eat dinner at some point later when i'm done work or w/e else i need to do for the day...we go out to dinner quite a bit (a trend ive been good about getting away from lately though!)

I eat an egg n cheese at the deli, bottle of water, bran muffin, and a fruit bar or cheese danish and a coffee. I don't know about your area but here that's hitting $10!!!

Instead I buy a loaf of wheat bread, pack of cheese, use my sink water with a crap load of ice, and make home made coffee or tea.

Without food in the morning I can't function. I get tired within minutes. I eat actually more then most guys and I weigh 180-190 all the time.

i dont get an appettite in the morn, so i dont eat till lunch time. usually just grab something when i stop for gas, or pack some snacks. for some reason, i can work hard and long without much food. But i need to be careful with that, cause its proly not the best for me as my metabolism is so high. im 6'4" 183 pounds. is sure do eat tons and tons tho when i get home from work in the summer.

you just eat cheese and bread for a sandwich? :) im not trying to be negative, just realistic here. so to break it down:

egg and cheese sandwich
bran muffin
fruit bar
coffee = 10 bucks or 50 a week.

at home

loaf of bread = $2.00 - 20 slices or 10 sandwiches $.20 per
good cheese brick= $6.00 - 20 slices 2 slices per $.60 per
12 pack of eggs = $2.00 - 2 per sandwich = $.33
sandwich cost = $.83

muffins, unsure of cost well say - $.50
fruit bar same - $.50
coffee (coffee, filter, creamer sugar) -$.75

total at home cost = $2.58

these numbers are made up but not too far off in some cases... and dont forgot, although small the electricity to toast your bread, brew your coffee and chill your ice. also, the location of your grocery store, and how far out of the way either it is, or the place you get breakfast is.

so your realized savings is actually more like 7 dollars a day, netting you 35 a week. not the full 50. not trying to nitpick. just OCD like that i guess when it comes to numbers. maybe i should go be an accountant instead...

im the same way with the food. i workout or run in the morning and then eat immediately. on days i dont work out, i eat straight outta bed, and kickstart my metabolism. optimally you want to eat every 2-3 hours. skipping breakfast and only eating 2 meals a day is not supposed to be that great for you as far as metabolism and nutrient absorbtion is concerned.

The question here should be: "Who wants to make me breakfast?"
90% of the time I don't eat anything, but on those 10% days, if I don't eat anthing, I start feeling like crap in a hurry, then its off to McDonalds.
I live alone as well, and for me its not just the food cost, it's the time cost in shopping, preparing and cleaning up after myself. After a long hot day, I really don't want to be hovering over a stove. Though, I am trying to cook more this year.

I usually always have breakfast at home sometimes something big sometimes I will just grab poptarts and eat them in my truck. Sometimes I will eat lunch and dinner while on the go sometimes at home all depends where I am at whats going on and how busy of a day it is.

I eat either oats or cereal every morning. I buy a bag of oats at the grocery store bulk area for around 50 cents a pound, 1.50 lasts me a month. I just poor some in a big bowl add water and throw in the microwave for a few minutes. Then I add some half and half cream, a teaspoon of sugar and some cinnamon. When I'm finished I usually have some left over I throw in my dog's dish then I wash the bowl, takes 10 seconds.
I also make my own coffee, that's around 8 bucks which lasts 2 weeks.
So it probably costs me a dollar to eat breakfast at home every day.
Dude is spending 200 a month on breakfast while I am spending 20.

I used to use that excuse too. But eating out is triple the cost as home. The more you eat out, i think the more you get worse, as in body shape. I'm a fitness freak so that's why I don't like to eat out. Oatmeal in the morning with bananas, medium lunch, light dinner, usually chicken.

One property I service is a ranch way out there in the sticks. I'll grab some breakfast tacos at my gas stop on the way out, and munch on them some as highway traffic allows on the out trip. I'll also buy one or two super burritos, frozen. Once at the work site, I leave them on top of the Jeep in the sun. They're cooked and hot come lunch time. Works for me.

Breakfast? Heck Im taking a leak beside the truck while its warming up to save time. If only I could find a way to not brush my teeth I would be set? Maybe I should get dentures. Who has time for breakfast.

I make breakfast at home, lunch at home and dinner at home. Just the occasional dinner out.
Same here. I'd be running low on fuel during the job if I didn't have breakfast.
