I started mowing today and i love the way my new JD M653 Z-trak cuts. The on;y thing i don't like is that it does not stripe vary well. I was wondering if there was anything i could do to make it stripe better as in attaching a peice of rubber to the back of the deck to help promote the stripe. Thanks for the help.

Sure, do a search for striping or stripping since people can't always spell too good. You'll find plenty of past threads, some even with examples, as to how to make, attach and use a good striping kit for your mower. Enjoy.

Here's my homemade deck roller on a 32" rear engine rider. The mower already striped great but it got even better with this thing. It kinda drags more than rolls but who cares? This may not be the ticket for a ZTR of that size but it works good enough for me. If you'd like more details, I'll esplain more! :D Chains will probably be better (or a flap) in your case or maybe adapt a full length roller that really rolls instead of drags from a different mower.
Good luck!

OK try this link:

The deck isn't down to cuting height in this picture so there's some slop in there so it actually sits down more. That's why it drags. Here's a page of pics it cut. The last two were mowed with this deck roller:

Sorry for the problems... :blob2:

I used to use John Deeres to mow with since I thought they were the best, but I switched finally and now I can stripe fairly good. ;)

Not to sound like a smart-alek or anything, but go to www.simplicity.com ;) This is almost sort of humorous! Oh, while you're there, there is a section on striping... it's kind of neat. Glad I can help.....

21" Toro Recycler... Could fit a bigger mower in but the homeowner likes the 21" cut and is paying more for it..

Here are 9 1/2 foot stripes on JD dealership - rather inobvious - around here, if you leave obvious stripes, they think your blades are dull - Pool table look is in vogue here
