Has anyone else heard of this?

We offer core aerations.. this specific client has almost an acre of property, pretty open front and back.

Her lawn contract is about $1,100 a year, she starts by wanting ME to tell her how to fix the lawn so it looks nicer... she wants a really nice looking lawn lol

It "looks" fertilized.. shes had the same fert company for 3 years now. Ive NEVER seen core plugs anywhere all last year, but she says they tell her its core aerated 6 times a year, says shes seen them out there, but i never have nor seen any plugs, and she probably doesnt know what an aerator would look like.

I would charger her $135x2 for spring and early fall aerations...

Her prop would be around $600-700 for a 5 step fert package for the season

She says she pays about $550 for the year! WTF? no wonder why she has problems... yet i dont know how to break it to her, dont want to point fingers, or tell her shes getting screwed.

It doesnt look like much fert is applied, but SOME.

Now we would use a 60" landpride 650lb aerator that does her property in about 30 minutes or less. My $135 per aeration rate is honestly very cheap for properties this size in NJ.

Lets just say they DID do just ferts for $550, and charged eh $50 per aeration application, which would take them 2+ hours with those crap bluebird 20" wide home depot rental models, theyre only making $350 minus supplies for the fertlizer for 5 apps a year for almost an acre?

The wife seems to think the "lawn company, aka US" are the problem in how its mowed lol. not sure what to tell them now besides the fact i dont believe what is being done for said price.

Even 'goff' course greens don't get aerated that often. Something's fishy bud.

There's also something fishey about that $135 aeration price, even for Jersey. You spend big oney on a landpride aerator just so you can give services away? It may make it go faster, but you have to pay for and maintain that aerator!

I can't believe the six times story
Weed Man and Nutra Lawn and even Lawn Ranger only Areate twice a year.
She don't know the difference between a spreader and an aerator.

I don't know anybody who aerates more than twice per year.

Holy crap 6 times a year, you would think the lawn would be covered in plugs, with holes everywhere.

yeah yeah i know i know. Since i got it in early 07.. we've never had many aerating jobs and has been difficult to push onto current lawn customers. Especially now adays when guys are renting the home chepo models and doing half acres for $80 :/ I know the price is way low

We should be getting $200+ for an acre or more, but it goes by so fast id feel like im stealing the money :p eventually we'll have market local that will pay those prices again.
