I've been wanting to post some pics of my stuff, but can't ever seem to get it all clean and set up, so you'll have to deal with pics of my dirty equipment. Truck is an 07 Mega Cab 4x4 with the Hemi, love this truck (other than the gas milage). Big Deere is a 08 Z830A, about 90 hours on it is all. Little Deere is my new 717A, about 260 hours. Everything is listed in my sig. Raining out, so everything is tucked in my "workshop" (20x24 garage).

i like the john deer ztr. Also I think you should get an enclosed trailer so that you can store your gear in it instwad of keeping it in your garage.:canadaflag::canadaflag::canadaflag::canadaflag:

It's near Peoria...

I have ACS chute blockers on both the Deere's. The design of the deck makes it hard to make anything block it off perfect, but these do a good job. I've also got an Accelerator catcher for the 830, and they work well together... bracket for the Accelerator actually helps square off the opening of the deck for the ACS.

Yea, it is doing a LOT better. Still a few quirks, but I don't think it's anything worse than any other machine. I've got some hours to put on it soon, so we'll see how well it holds up.

I've seen several mega cabs with plows on Plowsite. All the plow manufaturers websites spec them out for it, and it does fine. Now with the cummins it may be different... I know those engines weigh a TON. I'm sure they have less of a front axle capacity. My plow is only a 7.5' Meyer, but supposedly I could put up to a 8.5 on it I think.

So far I like them a lot. The 717 is increadably smooth, perfect for the smaller lawns where the 830 seems to be getting in it's own way sometimes. The 830 will cut some grass though. I'll have to get some action shots later this week. I was mowing at full clip the other day with it in a large field... went to push the levers forward to see how much faster I could go and realized I already was there, supposedly 12mph. Hit a bump and it'll rattle your teeth a little... no flats on the front and no suspension seat... OUCH!! The 7-iron deck is awesome though.

Herrick,
Equipment looks good. Are you enjoying all the rain we have had. Hope that you can get everything done with the new big account you have acquired. I feel overwhelmed with this weather that I am not going to get everything done each week.
Anyways, Good Luck

Quick update... the 717 has left to make room for an x720... My dad who is now retired and wants to help out for something to do couldn't get the hang of the ZTR controls, so he offered to help purchase the x720. It's definately no speed demon, but it does help having a second mower running at the retirement community. Plus I figure it'll be handy to have for other things than just mowing.
Also a couple pics of the Z830 in some foot + tall junk that I cut every other week. No 12mph cutting here, but it ate right through it...
Next pic is my craigslist score - an older LawnBoy 2 cycle for $60. Even has the Blade brake on it. I still can't get over how well this thing mulches compared to my new one. I grew up with the old 2 cycle Lawnboys, so I had to have this when I found it.
Last is my Haban pull behind mower project... picked it up for $50, but it has an issue with the drive belt poping off and has been sitting for a while. If I can get it working right again, I'll take it over to the retirement community to help knock some time off the larger open areas.

That is some thick grass! I've cut a few places like that (look at my avatar pic)...but I did it at full speed. Gotta love the torque of a big block! How does the Deere handle that much grass? Does is bog down bad?

i dont know what it is about the john deere i just like the way it looks. you dont have mulch on demand for that??? i see the chute blocker but i didnt see the mulch on dmeand sticker. alot of guys say that it is great on the 830. that 720 should get alot of stuff done and leave a really nice cut. what engine did that come with?

Deere doesn't do too bad, but it is only 27hp... the deck has no problems with it, but the motor will lug if you try to go too fast through it.

Yea, the 717 went back to Martin's in Roanoke. I think it's probably sold by now though, that was over a month ago now.

No mulch on demand. I put the ACS on to control the discharge, since it will spit the clippings 15-18 feet if it's not closed. Made getting in really tight areas with lots of landscaping a nightmare, but the ASC does it's job well. I do want to try out the MOD sometime, I think it would be awesome to be able to switch back and forth like that.
The 720 has the 27hp liquid cooled Kawasaki gas in it. The 62c deck won't handle the same grass as the 7-iron, but it still does a good job. I've actually got a mulch kit on it now and dad loves it. He goes around and hits the front yards at the retirement complex, while I cruise through the back yards and open areas. I have to make 2 or 3 passes with the 830 on the front yards to get everything chopped up fine enough with the ACS down, and the 720 with the mulch kit can do it in one pass. I'd put a mulch kit on the 830, but i'd need to switch back and forth fairly often, and that's just too much of a PITA...

What are you thinking of getting attachment wise for the 720? I know you can get a loader for it and a 3pt for it what are you planing on using it for besides the obvious mowing, aerating, ect.

The loader would be nice, but expensive... and the loader isn't big enough to make it worth the money. First on the list is the quick tach front blade, then maybe a 3pt and tiller, small box blade? When funds permit, I'll probably trade up to a compact utility tractor.

Well, got a couple pics to share, plus some major updates...
First off I finally got to step up to an enclosed trailer. WOW! I can't belive I lived without one for this long. It's an 8.5X16 Haulmax. Pretty basic, white even, but it's soooo nice having everything dry and locked up when needed. Freed up a lot of room in the truck too. Just enough room for two zero turns and the rest of my junk. The 8.5 wide is a real lifesaver too. I can put the push mowers to one side, and still have enough room to run the 60" ZTR up next to them.
Still need to get some pics of the trailer, and some of the big retirement community I've been doing all summer. Here's a couple other accounts in the meantime.

Few more pics to add...
First few are of my new 2008 Lazer... brand new off the showroom leftover 08... 31 hp Briggs, 60" Triton, and Ultra Vac QDS. This thing ROCKS! Kept the Z830 and just added a second zero turn. My wife will be quitting her job next spring and coming to help me out.
Next ones are of the new enclosed trailer.
