Love the help ive received from this site, has really helped me build my biz thanks guys..I have a license to apply and have in the past with granular/spot treatment with a backpack.Recently bought a 50 gal rig.i have a teejet gun with a 1.5g nozzle ..I want to be as effecient as possible, but i am refilling too much.Im currently spraying 2gal per k,i know this can be reduced..How can i spray less to minimize filling..Mainly spraying for broadleaf .I assume with a different nozzle and a hotter mix.Anyone have a similar situation, can you make reccomendations any help is greatly appreciated..Thanks again

I've gone that route in the past, and using a hotter mix while sacrificing coverage will cause you problems. You will wind up with spotty kills just like I did. This last app I used the same mixture on all of the properties, and the small ones where we used the 15-gal pull cart required re-treatment (On my dime) while the ones we douched died off uniformly and quickly. If it's financially viable, I'd recommend buying a bigger rig as soon as you can. You really do need to get more volume of solution down as opposed to simply shooting the calculated amount of chemical agent.

What is your application method? Do you wave the wand (like i do) with a shower type nozzle? A circular pattern can be used to wave the wand. A flat fan nozzle must be held stationary--just walk straight ahead. You may need to experiment with water on cement to find the best coverage, pressure, nozzle and combination of fine droplets with optimal resistance to wind.

It should be possible to reduce the gallonage per thousand sqft. After all some ride-ons use a half gallon per 1000 ft. Feel free to add an extra 200 gallon tank--you will need a few valves for the suction tube and the return/agitation hose.

I just got my skid sprayer friday and played with it this weekend. I have a teejet gun with the black nozzle. I think this is a 3 gallon one? Any way, I shot about 200 gallons of water through it and got my average where I was getting good coverage on the concrete. I was at about 2.5 gallons/k. Is this a decent number? I tried less but it seemed like I had a lot of dry spots. I tried more and the concrete was definately wetter but seemed like a little overkill. What do you guys think?

Try reducing the pressure--to about 75 percent of what you are now using(or less). You may need to go to a nozzle that has smaller holes. That should allow you to go down to less gallons per thousand. But the smaller holes in the nozzle will increase the number of droplets. You may want to buy or build a 12 inch nozzle extension to extend your reach--so you can still cover a 7 feet wide swath. If that does not work, you will have to go to a cone or band nozzle--I can't help you there, but others will have experience.
