I don't think so. Sterling doesn't exist anymore.

I know, but they still have to continue to service and sell the products they have, no matter what.
My brother in law is the head Service manager for Cummins in Grand Prairie, Alberta and he told me just to grab a Bullet rather than do a Cummins engine swap, he's been involved with the trucking business for many years now.
Look for Cummins using Urea as a fuel additive to eliminate DPF, it's also environmentally safer than most diesel additives, but storage is an issue.

Everyone is going to SCR using Urea.

I have a son in college who did a bit of training on Tier 3 emissions engines.

I don't think I would be buying a diesel truck my next truck is a V-10 I read Tow411 and the new V-10s are doing just fine in tow trucks guys are getting good life out of them and cheap to fix. Doesn't matter what brand of diesel you buy its going to cost you.

As for the Sterlings the biggest complaint is they ride like crap. Some of the guys said they got back problems because of the rough ride. I'am not surprised because when I looked at a Sterling it had very poorly designed suspension.

The new 6.7 Cummins with the emmissions stuff isn't doing so well either lots of problems.

Gas is the only way to go nowwadays never was but it is now.

I hate to say this, but you know why it rides like that, and has a poor suspension?

Its a Dodge!

From what I have been told, International is not going the urea way. Not sure how they are going to get around the emissions but the brochure on the 7000 sereies had some info on it.

No not because its a Dodge its because the rear springs mainly the overload springs are short and the main spring packs look short. They also don't have any arc to them why Dodge does that who knows.

You look at a F-450 rear springs and a 4500 Sterling rear springs the F-450 springs are longer and have a arc to them. Also the overload springs on the F-450 are considerably longer.

I had a picture of the rear suspension on a 5500 Sterling. Also anybody that has bought a Sterling says the rear springs are not strong enough. They ride rough because the springs are too short.

When I first looked at a Sterling and seen the rear springs and thought to myself that is one rough riding ****er. Starting to read on the net sure enough complaints that the ride is poor.

I had 3 F-Superduty (F-450) they all rode rougher than my current 03 F-450 same gvw the big difference is the front springs on the 03 are longer and the rear springs are slightly longer. Longer the springs smoother the ride.

If I was in Rons position keep his current 05 and fix what ever needs to be fixed. The truck has low kilometers on it and currently there is no market for trucks so if he tries to sell it he won't get anything for it.

I refuse to buy a diesel built after 2007. I'll buy an oldie and completely restore it even if it costs the same as a new truck. I will avoid buying any diesels with the new emissions BS for as long as I possibly can.

I've been told that with the Tier 3 emissions the air exiting the truck will be cleaner than air entering the truck.

I'am in the same boat no frigging way I'am I buying a 6.4 powered Ford or any emmissions controlled diesel. For the price of a 6.4 F-450 F-550 at 50-55,000 dollars for a cab and chassis no thanks. The diesel option is 8000 dollars then you have the night mare if you get a lemon.

You can make a 6.0 better it will take some money but alteast you can eliminate or partially get rid of the emmissions stuff not legal mind you.

Can't remove any of the emmissions crap on a new diesel it won't run.

The Ford V-10 may burn a little more gas but there are guys with 300,000 miles on them and never been opened up.

Heck I'll buy an 03 Ford with a 7.3 and redo it from the ground up. Engine rebuild, new trans, new interior, new everything. Can't end up costing much more thana new truck and you will have what is basically a brand new truck and it will be much more reliable.

Check out the latest video from PowerStrokeHelp on YouTube, a $40 lifter cost the owner thousands in repair, I don't want that, the Cummins engines are simpler in design.

If the 6.4 gives me trouble after warranty it will get yanked and a pre emission Cummins will go in.

Bahahaha. That guy is a complete MORON.

He's good if you've never seen the inside of a truck before, but HE PUT ON A TURBO WHEEL WITH AN IMPACT WRENCH!!!!!!!!! BAD IDEA.

Also that whole changing HPOP oil on your truck: Most ******ed thing ever. The oil in the HPOP reservoir is constantly circulating throughout the entire engine. Every mechanic I know has said that is total BS and has pulled a sample from the HPOP reservoir to prove it.

He has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to Forged Rods vs. PMRs either.

That engine with a dropped lifter had 200,000 miles on it nobody in B.C. keeps a truck that long that is 320,000 kilometers for us Canadians.

Like I said my truck is going to be gas I don't need a diesel I don't want a over priced engine that you can't fix. The new 6.7 Cummins is a ticking time bomb no where near what a 5.9 was.
