I was considering getting a Z spray junior but I'm now considering a Z plug because it seems to have a lot more versitility. With the z plug I can aerate, get a hopper to spread fertilizer, get a spay system attachment, and even have options for a slit seeder. I know this will add up to be more money but it seems to me to be a better choice for the long hall. Has anyone ever used the z plug as a spreader sprayer, and how was it, how does it handle etc, Big investment so would love to hear from some professional opinions/experiences. Thanks Dave

Before you buy any three wheeled machine, try to remember why 3-wheelers were banned... LOL

the 4 wheeled Z has enough trouble hangin onto hills.. I'd hate to try to spray with the 3 wheeled model...

Don't listen to this. I have had a z plugr for the last 4 seasons and it is a great machine. Intimidating the first time you use one, but in time, it will be a great money maker for you. I aerate about 70 properties every Sept.-Oct. As for the z sprayers ability to hold hills, mine does pretty well, and I don't have the new locking front castor wheels which are supposed to be a great improvement.

That said, I don't think the zplugr will be a good choice for an all in one machine. I personally would purchase the z spray unit since you will be using this all season long. Rent aerators until you feel comfortable with making the z plugr purchase. Also, look into the LawnSolutions new aerator. Pretty sweet machines and a bit cheaper.

I own a Z spray... it does o.k. on hills...

Turf.. if you take off the aerator attachment, the Z plug becomes a 3 wheeler, and it will be tippy.. mainly on hills.. try it..

A bit cheaper?

By about $500. If you are going to be spending that kind of money, do yourself a favor and get the Z-plugger. I tested the LawnSolutions ride-on at the GIE Expo. Our company owns a Z-plugger. It makes a lot of money. End of story.

I lean toward this advice. If you want a sprayer/spreader, get one. If you want an aerator buy an aerator. Attachments take time to switch. One purpose machines generally do what they are designed to do well. I thought about a Z-plugr as multi purpose machine also. I bought the Z-Max instead and now have an Intermediate. The Z-plug might be down the road. I have several aerators and I do not do that many.

I have a z spray and its and incredible machine. To aerate I've attached a hitch plate on the back and pull a lesco aerater.

It aerates very good on open areas. Its weakness would be in tight corners and backing up. But when you have ground to cover, the setup can run at 8 mph and get things done.

we have three zsprays and they have been nothing but productive beasts. we treated 42 yards yesterday in 8 hrs. by my math, that is 11 min per lawn. not bad including all the driving, loading , filling etc. some really big, others med size to smaller. i know i can doo better yet, cant wait to see what two running on my large lawn day! it was great. i want a zplug and think if the versatilty is that important then go that route. you can always add a zspray to take over the chems after you have made a killing with the zplug!!!!!! yeah!!!! alright!~!!!

I own both machines and they are each awesome at what they do. However, I feel they are best used as designed. I would consider what it is you do most (fertilize or aerate) and go that route first. Add the other machine as you get the chance. You can't go wrong with either choice.
