Am I the only one getting phone calls from the weird or jerks of this fine country this year? The latest one leaves a message this morning for work call him asap. called a few hours later goes to voicemail. He sounds like a real jerk just from his voice.

The bills are paid by these people.....you have to bite your tounge and deal with it. Some people are hard asses for a little while then they calm down...

After dropping a butt load on some nice flyers (more like large glossy post cards) I've recieved 2 calls out of 1000 passed out. Both asking about fertalizing, something that's not mentioned on my webpage or my flyer.
Almost wish I had an applicators license now, but I'd never see a return on the equipment unless it was all I did.

Dropping flyers and postcards is so subjective imo. I put out 400 +/- one night on a whim when my daughter was cranky. Took the doors off my Jeep, put her in her car seat, grabbed her Elmo guitar, and drove around for a few hours to put her to sleep. It rained the next evening and I figured it was all a bust. Ended up getting 2 jobs from it already. You just never know with advertising. Its all about the right time at the right place.

I had a call from a lady that works for the same company (dayjob)... She said she had a yard that no one else would touch and had to be done right away for the Easter Holiday. I told her I would get over there that day and call her from the lot. I called -- it was a 2 hour job to get the FIRST MOW OF THE YEAR done. I quoted $60.
She then told me that she was waiting on a quote from 2 other people. I asked about "no one else". She didn't have an answer.
The next day she emailed that she got it done for $30....
WOW
Got a call from a gal who wanted her lawn cut as short as possible...and once every 3 weeks. I rarely will not return a call...but I just had to let this one flounder on her own. :hammerhead:

Well I'll add my "call of the year" :p
Had one from out of state, the house is for sale, need I go on?
Ok so for those still interested I won't leave y'all hanging thou.
So anyhow, wanted it all done a specific way, and it is a nice yard so I didn't really have a problem with it,
other than for that minor issue concerning the pay.
I would have to say in all of the years, the highest ratio of deadbeats and / or folks who simply never pay
has to be from the out-of-staters, I guess some they just don't care... So in those years I devised a little system.
And...
Once we had everything all settled, I figured the customer was ready to agree, I made mention of the "address verification"
procedure that I would like to follow, for this I needed the customer's address and then once the verification was complete I
would immediately get started.
Upon this it seemed to cool this customer's feet considerably, customer said they'd call back, and then never did.
Now it could be that the customer got a better quote, or maybe I said it wrong or went too far with things.
But as for myself, I'm as glad either way, wouldn't be the first time.
