View Full Version : Best way to restore street/lawn edge??

I have a client that wants her edge restored where the grass meets the street.
The lawn is dead level with the pavement and between the snowplows and careless neighbors running over the lawn with their vehicles :hammerhead: the edge is pretty sloppy...

There is no sidewalk or curb or anything...just lawn right to the street edge.
I was just going to try and find the edge of the pavement with my square shovel (not really apparent where this "edge-line" is as the grass has overgrown it a bit and the frontage "line" is wavy at best) then cut a line along the entire frontage with my edger...then rake and seed the tire damaged areas.

Anyone ever done this?

depending on how straight the pavement is, it might look nicer to chalk-line a straight edge and make your own edge. check it out with a shovel and see how straight the edge is, but i imagine the tar not being super straight and edged like curbing. making your edge and maintaining it weekly/biweekly might look better than using the tar edge as a guide.

Thanks for that idea but the whole frontage is on a large curve for the entire length, Yeah, I don't know how even/straight the tar is yet...I can only do so much without a hard guideline...I told her I would do my best and she agreed.
At least it will be cleaner looking than it is now...
