will weed and feeding a lawn once take care of dandelions or do you have to do a multiple app?

With a granular weed and feed? Numerous applications are probably necessary. It all becomes a guessing game with granular. My advice? Hire a licensed professional to do it for you - and I guarantee you will come out ahead.

Is there something that he will use for only one application to take care of it for the year?

Well,...no. Tere is no guarantees that new weeds won't germinate, but the will knock out almost 100% of them. Some may be left over if they are a strong rhizomious growing weed like wild violet or ground ivy. But you will be WAY farther ahead than doing it with granular or a low concentrate.

You could get most of what is available to the pros, but it's more than that. Knowing how to mix, when to apply and how to apply is what you don't know. That would affect the effectiveness of applying even the same controls we use.
There ARE hacks out there, but a good pro knows the answers.
I say this aloud, if I am allowed to....

If you spray just one time per year for dandelions, it should be in late Sept or October. But it's best to spray twice -- late spring & early fall. If you have dandies now, you should spray soon, but make sure to spray in the fall for sure. After that, a fall app should do the job (if you're not picky about other broadleaf weeds)

Granules are a joke (just like drop spreaders). Granular herbicdes provide hit & miss control, and they seldom offer good weed control on small-leafed weeds. And you better make sure these herb granules don't fly into ornamentals. Also -- best time to fertilize once a year = fall.
