OK, just hear me out, I'm fed up about it.
My wife works at a local chemical company and was recently promoted so now her salary is somewhat larger than what I earn. That doesn't bother me even a bit, I'm welcome to any increase to the family budget and glad it's my wife not someone else's.
What bugs me is she likes to shove it in my face. You know as an ace up the sleeve to keep handy or an argument of power. In all my years I have never done such a thing.
Since the green industry isn't exactly a lucrative industry I'm assuming there are a lot of guys in the same predicament, so there should'nt be a shortage in replies.
My question is why women do it, humiliation via income, what do they gain? And second how to shut them up or cope with if it gets any worse. Currently I just ignore it, but hearing it on a daily basis is annoying to say the least.

Oh boy, have I heard that sh*t before and more than I want to hear it!! Mine makes 4 times what I make and reminds me of it on a regular bases. I remind her in a not nice tone that marriage is suppose to be a "joint" venture. Also remind her who paid all the bills years ago when she was going to college, who helped her to get her degree and if she does not like me for what I am don't let the door hit her in the azz on the way out! I will NOT have this crap rubbed in my face and I make it a very short conversation. I know this sounds negative but don't know any other way to word it. I have talked to several friends that have encountered this same thing with their wife and some have ended the marriage. I don't know why but it seems like some (not all before I get blasted) woman have this ego trip/power thing.

Tell her she's lucky to be able to do that. And don't jinx herself.

Now wait a minute, how can a women's income be higher than a mans?? Jeez, think of all the make up, pedicures, manicures, and all that stuff. Oh, and even house remodeling. Look how much money they have left after that. lol

Excuse me, having your wife rub this in your face and putting up with it does NOT make you a man! No one, wife or husband, should be made to feel inferior by their other half!
as long as your still getting some put up with it.

Just tie her up next time.......give her a rear end job she wasn't expecting............that should put an "end" to being a smart a$$....

im guilty of doing what shes doing sometimes, but im getting better at it, my story is a little different though, as my other half doesnt work, but i understand she doesnt deserve to be belittled, its just frustrating when shes telling me how to spend MY money that i earned. we battle it out about it every now and then. my suggestion is to confront her very casually and politely about it, tell her exactly how it makes ya feel when she does that sh*t, and point out that you never made a point to do that while you were making more. i would expect this from a wife who made less and you rubbed it in her face, but not when you never did, so thats kind of strange but whatever. sometimes people just need someone to brag/gloat to and your the closest one to do it to, without the social reprocussions of going out and bragging to friends and being known as a bragger. anyway, that kind of stuff is not healthy for a relationship, she needs to know that your happy for her, and its ok for her to be happy, but to rub it in someones face, especially a partner is just being a sore winner.
btw she doesnt happen to be really short and brunette does she?

There's an awful sameness about how I helped her financing till she graduated. It's not like I expect anything in return, just equal treatment.
Oh well, guess I'll have to handle this da old fashioned way. My pappy would have never tolerated such disreputable behavior :nono:. He always lectured about the three most important annual chores: fertilize your fields, groom your horse and discipline your woman. It's suppose to do good :).

Don't blame her. It's not her fault you made a poor choice of mate.

My wife pulls the same ****. Always remind her that I remodeled the house, fix the cars, maintain the yard, manage rental properties and investments, and provide 24 hour protection. I also tell her I'm the man and essentially the king of the palace and that I have the final say. Then I man handle her in the bedroom and give it to her making waterfalls til she screams.

Fortunately my wife doesnt work so I dont have to deal with that.
I would say, though Im all for equality.....I would have a hard time personally if my wife made more than me regardless of her talking about it.
