Mid size. Cheaper on gas, cheaper to maintain, easier to park and cheaper to buy.

Only you can decide what would work best fo you. a 3/4 ton is a good all around truck IMO.

You will need at least a 2010 model 1 ton with a diesel, navigation, leather, heated seats to pull a lawnmower around...Or at least thats what several people on here would say....

Seriously=A 1/2 ton will be more than enough!

Last year he was talking about a 2009 F-450. I wonder if that's big enough.

what services will you be providing...if you plow and spread an ice melting substance you will want 4x4 with 3/4 ton atleast....if jsut mowing how big of a trailer and what equipment will you bring to the job site 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive may be enough...will you need a dump bed insert to haul grass then you are back to 3/4 ton....leaves and wood or mulch may want to beef it up to 1 ton...what type of fuel economy are you looking for diesel may be better for you...how many people work out of you vehicle a crew cab maybe able to transport more crew and day to day driving may be more expensive but on work time it would be cheaper than two vehicles on the road(wear and tear and maintenance)....

as for me i have a quad cab dakota two wheel drive (wish for 4X4) i don't plow didn't think i would need it) 4.7l gas haul 5x10 trailer with 1 48' ztr and 2 21 push mowers trimmer rack and a tool chest in the front...

it is also my daily driver for the family, i get twenty plus mpg, handle the family needs gas mileage goes down with the trailer weight but it all averages out in the end...

as i expand i can get a bigger truck...i have a full size dodge ram that i did pull the trailer with but i prefer the dakota

Look for an old Duece and a Half with the personal transporter rear, that way you can go down to home depot on a saturday moring and pick up at least 74 "day laborers". I'd also highly consider a propane fuel conversion.

Wow lots of jerks in this thread. You don't have to win a spelling bee to mow lawns.

Anyway, I have a 3/4 ton Dodge Ram Crew Cab 4x4 w/ Diesel. I plow with it also. The only regrets I have are not getting the 1 ton SRW, and not getting the long bed. My opinion is go big so you can handle any job that comes your way.

This kid is only 15 or 16, this is his second lawnsite account. His first account was DEEREBOY14. How do I know this? They're both from New Iberia, they both use the same language structure (i.e. none), and I remember Advantec from his other account in either a post or his sig. I'll be the fist guy to help a newbie out, but this kid starts meaningless threads on topics that are already out there. Is this intrinsically bad, no. Everybody does starts new threads on already discussed topics. But he makes absolutely no attempt for a coherent conversation.
Maybe I am a jerk, but I just want to point out that he will make no attempt for an intelligent conversation.

Well said.

I have learned from others on lawnsite, and I hope I have helped a few guys, young or not.

This sort of thing is what makes me not even log on here at times, it gets old.

if you think that you may want to buy a truck for your lawn, maintencence or storage or your own business. I would recommend looking into the small box trucks that Uhaul has for sale. They are relatively cheap and most are in good condition. I think you should check it out!
