Looks good, I'd venture to say the Chevy is a 1500.

The back side of the fenders on the trailer are in great shape still compared to mine and alot of other guys rigs on here lol Mine are all dinged and scraped up from mowers

Looks good and very efficient! 166,000 miles is nothing, that truck has plenty more miles to go. I just retired my 94 Chevy with 340,000 with a v-6 and it pulled great!

So heres the first time in a while i had time to get on here and post some pics. Here are some pictures from a lawn i cut today it was the last one of the day and i thought it would be a good idea to post some pictures for you guys. They are taking with my phone so they are not that great. Business has been great for me my phone has not stopped ringing. Over 40+ weekly account and have on of my friends working for me 2 days a week. Also the last picture is the new redmax trimmer i just got about a month ago the thing is a beast i love it, i like it a lot better then the echo i had before.

Nice looking rig. Is the gear drive Bobcat easy to handle? I've never used a commercial walk behind, just my Cub Cadet 33". I would suggest looking at a Fastrap for the Bobcat. I used to use a ratchet strap and the Fastrap is a lot faster and easier to use.

OK guys I haven't been on here in a while just because ive been so busy. But here an update. I'm up to over 45 lawns now and going strong, also ive been picking up a lot of side jobs. I have 2 huge planting jobs coming up in the next week and also 2 retaining walls, and one that includes a water feature. I am getting a family friend that does mostly hardscaping to help me and were gonna bang them two out in the next 2 weeks I am very excited to learn how do that so now i can do it by myself. Also the first couple of pictures are from a clean up i did yesterday it was a lot more then i expected pulled out 3 stumps cut down 1 tree and trim all hedges and weeded. :hammerhead: Thanks for looking guys hope everyone else is doing good.

Nice Setup.
Where did you get the big straps?

I got it from my dads, he works for a big steel company and they use them on the tractor trailers to strap down the loads so i got like 5 or 6 of them for free, they are a bit of a pain tho unstrapping it all day everyday

DRBLawnBuster

murrayslandscaping22

How are you getting a stake body truck for free? lets here the spec on it

Well the story on it is that my dad works for a huge steel company here and they have a huge fleet of trucks and every couple of years they get rid of theirs and get all new ones, but they either scrap the old ones or give them away. the way i got my truck was free from them last year and the stakebody has been sitting there for the past 2 or 3 years so my dads gonna go in and talk to the owner of his company and see if i can get it which will be most likely cause they don't get much for when they scarp them anyways. But im not sure if im def getting it yet cause my dad thinks it needs a whole new engine.

You have started and are continuing down the right path. Starting small with basic equipment and slowly working your way up to bigger and better equipment. The Ford looks like a very nice work truck, good choice. I would recommend getting a toolbox for your truck. It cuts down on bed space, but you have a dry, lockable place for all your tools, leaving less bed clutter and everything is organized. It also looks good too. I added a toolbox to my truck this spring, and I can't believe I went 3 years without it. Good luck, and keep it up. If you ever need some advice or just want to chat, PM me anytime.

I never revealed my age when I came to this site, thus many people on here thought I was a lot older, I didn't have to deal with much bashing. My parents helped me out with my first Toro 44" walkbehind, but they saw the desire and passion I had for lawn care, and wanted me to be successful. My dad is also co-owner. There is NOTHING wrong with parents helping kids out in this kind of situation because scraping together $3K for equipment as a 14 or 15 year old is tough. My dad has also financed the truck and mowers in his name since I wasn't old enough. Paying cash is the best way to go, I learned my lesson. Being stuck with payments is bad, especially in drought years. Financing has its benefits so you can build credit and get a loan for something you won't be able to pay cash for, such as a shop/house/truck. Pay early every month and try to pay it off early and that will really help the score. And you will not regret a toolbox, I love mine!

Any advice for me in regard to getting more fall clean ups? It is my first year really doing fall clean ups.

Yea I had about 12 going into last season and ended up getting a total of 43 now. The ones I picked up once the season began were from word of mouth. Im trying to pick up maybe 10 more and find another worker. I am a senior and can't wait to be done. You going to college next year or just going full time? I will be going to temple Ambler which is a little closer to me and I was told that you can schedule classes the way you want them so I am going to try to get all morning classes and then just have the after noon to work. For this year I'm looking at a 6x12 or 7x14 enclosed trailer and getting a 48 WB before the season. And want to get another trimmer, better hedge trimmers, another blower maybe and possibly a leaf loader. I am also looking to get another truck so that if I do go to school and can't get back for work then just have a crew go out and do it. This was my first year to and I think I did good but definitly want to do better next year.

same my man...thats good good luck with all the college stuff its a lot to think about isnt it? and ya i was thinking about going with an enclosed trailer but idk if the funds will be there as of now and i dont want to go into debt yet. I am buying a 52in next lazer at the end of the month then another trimmer, and then a 7 by 14 open trailer. And same man i want to do much better next year get into some more good stuff and make some more money. :weightlifter:

Yea it is alot to think about with school work and applying to colleg this fall was crazy. I would probably go with an open too but I have no more room in my garage so I either need to rent a garage or get an enclosed and after weighing the decisions the enclosed was a better decision for me. This year I mainly want to just get a trailer a 48 WB and maybe a used trimmer and blower. After that all the money is going straight to the bank for college.

yea i was looking at the 200, and yea there is a lot of competition around here, but also i just pass my cards out to anyone i meet and also my parents do too and then family members and friends do also, just get your name out there every chance you get and just stand by your work every step of the way and make sure that you do it the best you can not saying you dont. But yea i hope to have all this going and about 65 lawns this year maybe more depend on how one of my contracts goes depending on how many customers they pick up for their property maintenance business. and yea i hope to see pictures of the saw and also of the truck when you get it lettered.

I am not saying it is not good power IMO The 200 puts out 35.2 cc where th 192 puts out 30.1cc The 200 is 7.7 lb and the 192 is 6.9lb. Hey they are both good saws its made by stihl. Get the saw that will do the best for your needs. Both are great saws.

Thats what i want to do for this year have a crew cutting while i am in class but I can't find anyone who wants to work. You would think it would be the opposite in this economy but everyone who wants to work with me wants 20 an hour and wants to be able to choose their own hours and they want to work only 2 days a week and a bunch of other BS. Or they have no work attitude at all and just sit around on their phone all day. At this point if I can find at least 2 people to work for me i will pay them good not 20 an hour but better than they would get at any other job. As long as they get the job done and are making me money I will take care of them with pay.

Nice that lazer should speed things up big time. I also want to pck up a redmax trimmer. Before the season starts I am going to pick up a 48 Wb and a chain saw. Then I want to pick up redmax hedge trimmer, another blower, and trimmer some time through out the season.

Ya i debated for awhile on putting a price on but i dont think if a company is doing a lawn for 40 dollars because there overhead is so high i could charge 30 and that just could make the difference with the people. I am going oto do500 with the price 500 without see what return i get on both.

WOW you've grown alot, good job man !, I am also 17 this will be my first official year of getting the ball rolling. Did you just use flyers or door hangers ?, I'm going into town tomorrow to put up my flyers and cards everywhere possible, I'm getting real aggressive with marketing this year I've already gotten 5 new clients. My goal is to be at 45-50 lawns by this fall so I can buy a new gmc duramax crewcab for my 18th birthday. Sorry for the long post.

technically it's my 5th season mowing, I've just been mowing a few people in and outside the neighborhood together about 20, I'm running a 52'' wright stander and a 36'' encore walkbehind(may change to a new 36'' turf tracer hp) and stihl and remax(soon to be soley stihl) and I have a 6x10 enclosed trailer. I'm also about to close on an 06 chevy 1500 4x4 with 66,000 miles on it.

sounds like your off to a good start man this was my first year not mowing on my street and stuff so i feel like i did pretty good i ended up with around 30 some customers now im up to about 50 some like i said above and then 5 apartment complexs that have around 90 apartments totaly so there pretty big. I have a 36" bobcat and then my 52" lazer comes in on tuesday or wednesday so im excited for that. I am also buying a 7x16 enclosed with all the money i saved up from the past season im paying for all this in cash so its all payed for. The next thing i hope to buy is at the end of the season a nice landscape dump for fall clean ups and such. I run redmax blowers and trimmers, have and echo blower and trimmer and hate them, then i have a stihl chainsaw and love it but i have never ran their blowers or trimmers i think im going to stay with red max till they fail me lol

That tree job looks good. I want those types of jobs. The tree jobs I get are about 20-40 feet tall with a thousand branches. I end up making 2 dump trips for some jobs and the trees are very close to the house so it takes alittle longer to cut them branch by branch instead of just felling the whole tree and then going from there. But work is work. Can't wait to see your lazer.

I wish, I'm 17 just part time, I have a toro hydro walk behind. I am looking at the new lazer's though, I'll probably demo one this summer, and if I have enough accts come august I might get one. The qds is nice, but the double bag one is too b/c you can line the bags with plastic bags and bag right into those. That is what a lot of guys in my area do b/c the garbage company hauls the debris away. Let us know how you like it? What is the difference b/w the advantage series x and just the advantage series??

Yeah, there is a good demand for fert/weed control in my area. So many possibilities. Tree work is good too, but fert/weed control is much bigger in my area, plus I don't have the equipment for big time tree removal, just a Craftsman saw. I have a '93 F250 plow truck, but the thing is taking a crap on me, so I'm selling it and getting a '89 Ram 250 Cummins with a steel plow from a buddy.

having the big stuff accessable from the back is nice. Even with just my 36" up front it's kind of a b*tch to climb around it, although most of that is b/c I have the wheelbarrel's up there too.

The green touch racks are badass, the extreme series trimmer racks are the absolute sh*t! in and out of the rack in literally 1 second, and an extra 3 seconds to lock it if you ever have the need to.

lol, the hand tools are just a product of my boredom and a $4 can of flourescent lime green spraypaint I had laying around.

The previous owner (Tyler??? -done remember his exact username) had them in there. Idk if he made then or bought then, but I love them. My other trailer was wood shelves up front that I built with a 2x6 In front on the bottom shelf and a 2x4 on the top shelf with plywood behind it supported by like 8 L bracketson each shelf. I'd just make sure they're high enough up that you can put a catcher underneath them vertical, that's my only gripe with these.

i know man i wanted green but i went to the trailer place yesterday and if i ordered a green one they are on back orders and wont be in for 6 weeks and i will be cutting by then. but i might get it wrapped in the summer. I know i want green with yellow lettering but doesn't look like that is going to happen. hows the new trailer for you?

Sucks about the backorder...

My trailer is also a Sure-Trac and so far so good. I just had everything in there to move from my shop to my garage at home to do the maintenance on it, and also to kinda see how I want to set everything up. Theres PLENTY of room side to side but between the back of the handle bars from my 48" to the gate of the trailer is only like 1 1/2-2 feet so I kinda wish it was a little bigger but for the setup I am running right now its perfect.

the trimmer racks are in, but the blowers racks are on back order so it sucks but ill get a picture when they are all in, and i usually load up the truck with the mulch like last week i hauled 3 1/2 yards and the enclosed and the truck did fine, but for the 15 yard job i did i got it delivered. how you making out this season so far?

Lots of updates:
1. In the process of getting the biggest job ive done yet which im going to have to rent a skid for two days. I have to spread 8 yrds of mulch, fix a bolder wall, cut down 3 trees and remove all this brush, then fill in a hole in the guys side year which is going to need 15 tons of rock and 11 yards of dirt i really hope land this because this will put me company where i want it to be.
2. In the process of getting a new logo made because my old one is too much like someone around here.
3. Im also in the process of making a website in school for my business and it looks real sick.
4. Im up to about 63 houses and 5 apartments and have 2 guys working for me 6 days a week after school and all day saturday so its going great.
heres some pictures of the trailer and the racks..enjoy

thanks man, you can def have this in a few years i started older then you so just keep working hard. And I dont have an edger because i just dont see the need for it i got my trimmers and thats all i need i think its just easier because that does everything and i just dont wantta waste time to grab the edger, edge then go grab a trimmer just what works for me and no companies around here use edgers.

NIce work bro, Work has been coming to me and the best part it's in a super high end million dollar part of town. I've been getting quota's for mulch like crazy and a lady who I did the quote for today knows at least 60 people in mission hills(fancy nice part of town) and I'm probably going to get her for weekly maintenance because she was Impressed on how far I've come and I'm only 17. Sorry for the long sentence I'm just super pumped for when I'm going to be spreading mulch at her house.
