One of my residential customers does not like wildlife period, god only knows what his monthly pest control bill is he pays to have everything killed/trapped/sprayed, anyway he had these darn glue traps placed all over, one trap near his garage door had a innocent victim, while talking to him, he noticed the trap was mowing, he went to pick it up, and what he thought was a earth worm, turned out to be a harmless, and important/good snake for the ecosystem. He jumped through the roof, and was ready to kill it, and I yelled please STOP!!!!. I have been trying to teach this guy, you don't kill everything just because. Anyway he was quite confused, and still did not care that I explained some snakes are good eat insects, rodents, and keep disease & vermin/vector populations in check.
I had to gently peel the little snake off the glue trap, the snake worked with me, and did not bite me once I think he knew I was helping him. I took the earth snake with me, and released him in my landscape beds when I got home.
I am an avid hunter, but I respect wildlife, and unless I eat it, I won't kill it. Of course if my life is in danger I would protect myself. But really we need to try to respect all life.
When I got home tonight i did some research, and found out these snakes are rarely seen live underground, and are good to have around:clapping:
Anyway I left my customer even more frustrate; because I did not kill the snake, and made him more paranoid their are snakes trying to get in his house good or bad:laugh:

Good for you Nosparkplugs. Now that you posted that picture I remember catching one of those in my backyard a year or two ago. I wrote him off as a legless lizard for some reason. I found mine under some leaves I was moving.
I like yourself don't kill anything I don't intend to eat...except yellow jackets and fire ants, I even remove spiders from the house and other bugs. Right now I have a black widow nesting on my front porch...I have not checked on her in a few days but there has been one on my front porch since we have lived in the house for 5 years.

I agree that killing for the sake of killing is just wrong. Every creature has its place on earth. Now, if I could only get the Valacia Raptor to stop giving me the Evil Eye everytime I go to my shed. I hear that they are pack hunters. Where is that Giant T-Rex when I need him.:laugh::laugh:
The wildlife in my area is mostly bunnies, raccoons, skunks, and little baby spiders. Nothing cool like that little snake. Even if he was to bite you, it probably wouldnt hurt that much. Cute little bugger. Good job NoSparks.
