View Full Version : Exmark belt replacement
Purchased a new Exmark Lazer HP 50" last year and mowed once with it. Love it. In fact, if I weren't married, I might have married it. Anyway, loaned it to my brother who turned the mower on and off twice with the PTO engaged and threw the belt. He never got it back on correctly so I bought the $60 belt. I got the belt back on and mowed several times with it. The belt started coming apart today. I have the belt but do not see how to replace it as it looks as if you have to tear the whole thing down to get it on there. I need some kind of instructions on it. I hate to take it to a dealer for a simple belt replacement. I am somewhat mechanically inclined so I feel that I should be able to accomplish this. I can't find anything out there on the Net. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Is it possible?
Now I have a different type of a riding mower Ztr.
But on mine, I lift the foot plate and there's a diagram of that belt path BS on there.
Still doesn't make it the easiest thing but it does make it doable,
I would check between finding such a diagram somewhere on the machine,
look under the seat also, everywhere really.
Or go to Exmark.com and download a pdf Owner's / User's manual.

Thanks for the advice. I had found that diagram of the belt path. However I never found anything about how to change it. I just dug into it last night took the tension springoff - not too hard with a flat head screwdriver and golves. Then took the bolt holding the tension pulley arm out and loosened the one on the pulley itself. Then I was able to do it. Hopefully this will help someone in the future.
