i have a gravely pro 50 that i traded about 3 months ago for a dirtbike that was worth $500 so esentially i paid $500 for the pro 50. it had a brand new deck on it that cost the guy $1500 so basically i got a steal. now grass starts to grow and i try the mower it is very underpowered with only having a 12.5 hp motor. it can't cut any high grass bogs bad. also the safety switches aren't working. so i tried to sell it on craigslist for $750 and really got no interest. so a guy will trade me his toro proline 44 with t-bar controls and the same engine which runs good and he will throw in $75 or give me a sulky. so i realize the gravely is worth more but with getting no interest in it on craigslist and needing a decent mower soon do you think i should trade. and buying a more expensive mower is not an option maybe next year but don't suggest that now.

Ask him to let you try it out.

yea i should get to test it out sometime in the next couple days. from what i have been reading the t-bar controls seem to be the best you can get on a belt drive machine.

As you can see I have a Gravely w/b and find it to be the opposite of yours. I have no problem with bogging down for sure. I cut some grass once at 2.5 ft no prob. Gravely brand will definetely carry more value than the Toro, but if the Toro is newer and works better it will probably make up the difference in value.

Also try listing it in different cities near you.

yes but even your gravely 36in has a larger engine than mine. i no dought agree that gravely is a great brand but the kawi 12.5hp motor that is on mine ruins it. my main problem with selling it is that i am too honest i explain right in the ad that the mower is underpowered because it is not worth my time to lie to them and have people pist off and want their money back and even if i did sell if for $750 there are not many mowers in that price range that are in good shape.

I'd tell them that it doesn't work in very tall grass, but would be excellent on weekly cuts.

just a question for anyone with a toro that has T-bar controls. are the two controls split or is it just one bar and if it is just one how could you zero turn?

Good trade..by all means go for the 'sulky' rather than the $75. It can be re-sold for more if you choose to not use. Worth much more than that..unless it is totaly wore out. Geno

The Toro Tbar is a single piece and works very well. No more numb hans that's for sure. Steers very well. Just remember the reverse on a belt drive Toro is almost worthless, at least on mine. It will pull it backwards but it is more like reverse assist. The forward gears work very well.

I think your mower is cutting well cause that doesn't look like a gravely deck he replaced on there. I may be mistaken but its just and observation

do you mean that it is not cutting well because it is not a gravely deck? and why would that affect the performance of the machine.

Buy a bigger engine and sell the 12.5 to offset the cost.
It's an easy swap if you stay within the same engine family.
