The riding lawn mower is a craftsman 10 HP 30" deck
Electric Start
The model number is 502-270-110
And the mfg date is 98055
The asking price is $275
The mower appears to be a little rusty, it started up ok I guess, I have no knowledge whatsoever on lawn mowers though.
What I want to know is,
1) What year is this model, I can't tell from the mfg date...
2) Is this a good deal?
Thank you so so much for all your help guys, I really appreciate it! And please, if its not worth it then tell me. I work hard for my money and I don't want to waste it.
Thanks again guys.

If everything works, offer them $200., you can always go higher.

Ya I was thinking the same thing. Just wondering though, what year was this tractor made in. I have no idea what the mfg date is supposed to entail.
Thanks!

I could only guess, better check with Sears.

I would investigate other avenues if possible. 10hp really isn't much at all. I would look for something with a bit more if possible.

This is very true, sometimes a very good price is too inviting. You need to think what you intend to do with it. Also keep in mind that most 21" walk behind lawnmowers are running around 6 - 6.5 HP, your gonna have an old ( I'm guessing 1998) Riding mower with only about 4 more horses.

Thanks a lot for the input guys. Everything you said makes perfect sense, I just checked out my walk behind mower and it was pretty close to the specs betmr posted.
I didn't really like the cosmetic look of the mower either... same goes for the guy that was selling it ... but thats a different story ;)
I also don't have a way to get it from his place to mine even though we live like 4 miles away. It may seem close by but its not something that I can just push home... without getting killed at least.
I was thinking that all said and done if he will give it to me for $125 or $150 then I will buy it otherwise no.
What do you guys think?
