any ideas for locating private installed electric line? customer had it installed around a pool and cant tell me exactly where it is...wasnt there when OUPS came to mark the other utilities or I would have asked him...

a marking flag bent at a 90 degree angle and some marking paint..

Find an outlet, and input the locator signal into the ground terminal. Use Earth ground to complete the 'circuit' ~ inform the customer that wiring located shallower than code requirements is fair game for destruction.

We've done the same, only made sure the power is off at the circuit breaker first.

The breaker isn't going to cut off the ground wire, so you will still light up the entire property. It would pay to test the outlet before connecting a locator.

I guess; seems like it was more fun when we had to think things through rather than have a forum to give out do-it-yourself-and-screw-it-up information.
