I was driving the other night close to dark and it was raining very hard. Look what drives beside me. I had to take a pic with my camera phone at a stoplight. My wife was mad that I took the pic, but I was like I have to. This is crazy. I love how the spreader is upside down on the mower seat. Sorry pic isn't better. I was I had an actual camera and the rain didn't help.

Haha, thats funny. At least it looks like his lights on the trailer work. We were mowing on the University of Kansas campus Tuesday, doing a bunch of rental properties I take care of and two doors down from us was an older guy and his slightly overweight kid mowing 18" tall grass with a 30" Craftsman rear engine rider and el junko 21", in the time we unloaded my Z, mowed trimmed blew off and loaded back up the kid had killed the mower three times, and daddy had took back over mowing. I have one other job a block away, can still see the yard they were on, got it mowed and left they were still there. I only hope that the guys mowing might have been the owners of the property, cuz if they are getting paid someone is getting ripped off. Oh well, as long as he wasnt spreading any kind of pesticide with that spreader, maybe someday he will work his way up to a real rig.

Yeah, you are right. He is probably just trying to make a living like the rest of us. He probably is just getting started and that is all he can afford or maybe he is just moving for all we know. It might just be that he happens to be moving all his lawn equipment when I saw him.

what i dont get is people loose thier job take thier life savings and go buy lawn equipment then have to hussle like crap to put food on the table. weather thats the case with this guy or not.

I have seen several people do it and loose everything. I know people did that this winter because of all the calls i got in the end of dec. when thier guy was no where to be found.
I aslo shake my head when guys go buy a 5k plow to do 10 drives at 20 bucks Just to (make extra money). 200 per snow x 11 pushes we had this year = 2200 we had 11 or 12 last year and 8 the year before. It takes them 3 years just to pay for the plow beside the cost of fuel and repairs.

It is obvious all that stuff is brand new and hasn't even been used, yet. He is probably on his way home to let his Sears credit card cool down. Whether it is for his own home (probably) or for an "instant lawn service" remains to be seen. I cn't believe how defensive some of you guys get when you see stuff like this - thinking the worst. Now THAT'S the part that is funny!
When you are in a business that includes an operation(s) that any moron, including the 8 year old kid down the street can do, you have to expect to see much of this "entry level" stuff.

Ditto that! I hate to chime in on personal things but man, aren't we a little sensitive? My grandfather is a master farmer and he has always extended the bed of his old flatbed trucks with plywood to haul more hay and he has NEVER lost one bail! I was driving down I64 last year and there were some young "pros" with their brand new set up, nice goose-neck and all, and people were serving left and right to avoid the fifty or so bails that were out on the interstate. He just shook his head and asked me if we should stop and help them get it up.

I am all for the nice set up, they look good, they look professional, some are really cool to see, but since we did being humble become such a foul and especially in a self-admittedly "conservative" industry (refer to your free magazines from the industry and owners of this board for references, I am not going to go cite pages.) A hack is a hack, but judging a book by it's cover and being so harsh on a man for working just isn't right.

I just cleaned out my in-laws shed. Seriously, you don't know what the guys doing; if he's working, good for him. He could be at your house stealing your stuff.
