When I drove by the case dealer the other day I noticed a New Holland skid steer in amongst all the Case machines. I have always wondered what they do with another brands machines when someone trades in. Do they scrap them or what would they do? Wouldn't think they would want a competitors machine on their lot.

I bought a bobcat from a DEERE dealer when I started in business.

Dump them off in an auction, Cat does it alot, and if they don't sell, I'll see a bunch sitting at a local RB Auction.
Yea here the CASE dealer puts his competitor conquests up front for a while. He had two 420E's and a 310 SE for sometime. After a while they just dump them. They try and get all the publicity they can.

We try to sell them first. Then a week later we wholesale them...

i mean you wouldn't think that they would want to show the competition on their lot, but I guess anything a dealer can make money off of if they do try to sell them.

I would think they would play the 'ours is so good that people are getting rid of brand X to run our machine'. I wonder if you can get a better deal on say the NH that are at the Case dealer if you are a NH guy?

You would think that they would want to sell you a case but if you wanted the New Holland I am sure that they would not turn you down. Its a sale.

Yea they got money tied up in it in the form of a trade allowance so as difficult as it may be to sell a competative machine back in your market, if someone wants it, you gotta sell it. I would try and put them on IP or something and get them out of the area.

Our Bobcat Dealer lets the CAT loaders they get(quite a few more compared to the Bobcats the Caterpillar dealership gets) set up near the road so you can see them when you drive by and so the CAT dealer across the street can see it from there show room.. :cool2:
Past that, I think they send them to auction..

I bought a junk Bobcat from a Gehl dealer years ago really cheap. It was just specified as a cash sale, as-is. They normally sold junk trade-ins to a scrap yard but they wanted to clear the lot and the scrap guy wasn't buying.
