View Full Version : Pics of banks - How to install ground cover?

Ok, here are pics of the banks that we're thinking about installing a ground cover on. My previous thread was about what ground cover would do well on a sunny slope. How would you go about planting the ground cover on these slopes? Would you remove the grass? If so, how would you do it? Weed killer? Remove sod? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If possible, I'd scrape it out with a bobcat or mini skid. If you don't have access to either of those:
Spray with roundup.
Till dead grass with added amendments (peat moss, pine bark fines, etc; whatever is needed in your area).
Plant the groundcover.

I know it would cost money, But that looks like it's begging for a nice Block Retaining Wall, stepped back gradually up to the lawn level. Imagine how nice that would look.

Exactly what I was going to post. Maybe a EP coventry wall. Someone photoshop that in so he can see what it will look like.
