I have a customer that wants her front lawn seeded with centipede grass, because of the low maintenance required. Last year she seeded with centipede with little success, I do not know what preps were down prior to seeding. In doing searches I have noted that centipede suffers winter kill if the temps drop to 15 degrees, also the germination time of the seed is around 21 days, requiring daily watering. I am located in SE Virginia along the coast but out of the recommend area of centipede, we do get a few cold nights in the winter. My questions are 1) how well would centipede grow in my area (zone 7), and is the germination time for centipede really 21 days? Anyone with experience with centipede please pass along thier view pionts on this type of grass.
