I have a 36" Advantage deck, 5 years on it now and no problems to speak of. It cuts well and discharges evenly. Are you looking to buy one? Or are you having problems with one?

Ya i have a scag tiger cub with a 48 on it and well lets just say that i have a problem with it about every time i mow a yard. I love the mower cause it starts up everytime and it never has problems mechancally but the deck is a piece of crap if the grass is a little bit wet it will clump up in balls in the yard then the deck cloggs which makes it even worse i will never buy a scag in my lifetime because of this reason. But maybe its just my mower idk.

I owned three advantage decks and liked all three of them. Never had a problem with any of them clumping.

that usually has a lot to do with it, found that to be a large problem when mowers are new and after a year of hard use. check it and go from there. but mowing when too wet is not a good idea either.

GO buy a scag with the veloctiy deck and you will not say "your never buying a scag again they are crap"

I have both the Advantage and Velocity and I hate the Advantage. My Velocity deck cuts the wettest grass around and doesn't miss a thing. I tell everyone that same thing and I guarentee it!

Have had both Advantage deck and the Velocity deck.

Both decks cut extremely well. The Velocity deck has a wider discharge to get the grass out faster, hence the name.

Regarding clumping with the Advantage, never had any issues with ours.

Check the deck pitch, never had a problem with wet grass here. I cut Bluegrass that is heavily fertilized and have 0 problems.....I cut at 2 1/2", everyone I cut has sprinkler systems....hth

I have both and have cut some pretty bad stuff and have never had any problem with clumps. I think blade pitch or type of blade might be your problem. If you are cutting tall wet grass with a mulcher blade sometimes it might clump some a little. I usually just make a second pass

how do you change the pitch? I mulch too and it take me forever to mulch in the standard position, but then I will just mow out the discharge.

Where should I set it at?

I'm going to buy a scag Turf tiger, and it has a 27hp kawasaki 61" cut, with the advantage deck on it. So no one thinks that I will have any problems?

I STRONGLY recomend you don't get the Advantage deck, buy the Velocity and thank me later.

never had a problem with them.sounds like you have the pitch or the blade spacers wrong.
