anyone know if the transmitter for Pulser locator sends the same signal as the 521a or is it a totally different pulse/signal/strength?
I was wondering if you could purchase the Pulser A-Frame only and use it with 521a transmitter?

To my knowledge no. Pulser requires a much stronger signal and it needs to be intermittent. A five second or so delay between each pulser signal.
If you think the 521 is a shocker the pulser will kick your azz.

Would a Pulser have found that fried solenoid of mine?

No, but you could've stuck its points into yourself, and have had something to bother you more.

Only if the splices were bleeding. I've used it to find valves before. The worse the splice job the better your chances.

Works even better in a situation where someone thought it would be a good idea to cut off the splices at the valves before the major construction that buried the valves.
I guess to keep the valves from coming on?
BTW, the Pulser is a great tool that no serious service tech should be without. I pinpointed a damaged wire the other day that the 521 could not locate exactly. I was within a few inches of the damage.
